Basically finished up the wiring still have a few that I want to clean up but Im going to wait. Bought 200' of color coded wiring to run to the tail lights. I decided to run a ground all the way to the back (not a fan of relying on body grounds), reverse light wires (my panel has no reverse lights, figured maybe I would want to add something later), and a constant power wire (might add some lighting inside later). Tail lights are actuay LED circuits from a standard Harley tail light. We had a huge box of them at the bike shop I used to work at and they fit well. I painted the inside of the tail light chrome and added some reflector tape. I think I posted a pic of them a long time ago. The pic is of them as a taillight. They are even brighter as brake lights. Figure I might as give the police one less reason to pull me over!

Scored a chop saw on Craigslist with a new blade for $40. Decided to try it out. Worked well. Made this thing. Still have to clean it up a bit.

And what that thing was for was to mount my gas pedal and the bread tie looking thing is to hold the cable. I just cut up a factory one and welded it. Now I just need to position the gas pedal and weld this set up in. Figure I'll cover it up when I put floors in the truck.

Re: Free Candy Inside: 63 Long Panel Build
Cool build so far. I am curious about your gas tank. On a SWB suburban the filler is behind the rear wheel. Is your tank between the frame rails or outside? Do you have pictures?

Here's another pic. Baffles will be inside. I still need to figure out how I'm going to mount it, filler neck and securing the pump. I bought a piece of stainless at my local scrap yard for $40. Made a template and then went to a local shop that sheared it and bent it up for me for $40. Custom stainless tank for $80 thus far.

I just set the bottom and side piece of the gas tank in the truck so you can see how I made it to go around the 4 link set up. Not sure if this helps you any.

Re: Free Candy Inside: 63 Long Panel Build
Nice work on the new tank. Thanks for the pics. For the fuel pump have you looked at the Aeromotive Phantom in tank pump. Installation looks relatively easy.

Got another snow day today lol. Got out to the garage and got my transmission crossmember done. I had one in previously but the angle was off and I had no way of running exhaust.

Because I wanted it as low as possible I decied to use a couple 1/2 inch thick energy suspension body bushings to dampen it to the mount. Here's it installed.

And it looks like I will now have plenty of room for exhaust now. I used some 2" pvc to mock that up. Lol

Re: Free Candy Inside: 63 Long Panel Build
Looks like that will work!

When grinders attach! Was prepping some metal I couldn't clamp and it bit me. Looks worse than it is. Rinsed it off, a few bandaids and back to work. And yes, I had gloves on when this happened

Today I bought a bunch of wire, some relays, and some odds and ends to try to get the air ride done. I messed around too much and only got the valves installed and the tank set in place. Hopefully tomorrow Ill get the compressors mounted up and do a little wiring. Going to be a simple set up. Accuair is cool and all but to me that's just way too much stuff to go wrong. Even if I was rich I'd still do a simple set up with just an few switches.

Decided to mount my relays, ground block, and a 2x8 connector thing for valves under where the tank mounts. Theres a electronics store in town that sells all this stuff super cheap. I bought 8 different colors of wire to make my own valve harness. The black wires are going to go to my pressure switch and are grounded that way it will complete the relay circuit for the compressors and won't burn up.

Re: Free Candy Inside: 63 Long Panel Build
I am posting these pics straight from my phone. No idea why they post sideways. Sorry
|
Re: Free Candy Inside: 63 Long Panel Build
Depends on how you hold your phone when you take the picture. If i get a bunch like that i hook it up to the computer, put the pictures on my computer and rotate as necessary. Can't do it while they are on the phone. Might be able to do it with a photo editing app

Nice work on the air tank and compressors. Are you enclosing this area or leaving it open on the bottom?

Nothing real exciting. Ran the air lines along the frame. Drilled and tapped some clips to keep everything in place. Then I got sick and didn't anything done. Finally got out in the garage today. Reworked the radiator mount and core support. Still have to make top radiator mounts. Painted the core support.
