I do think that will be on my list. I have a stock cover. I looked at some nice aftermarket units that will fit and it's not crazy hard to make up lines for it. I have some ideas of how I will vent the front unit. I know I will need the rear unit if anyone wants to ride out back and not bake.

I wanted to test it out first. In the AZ heat:devil: I should give it a good test. I will post my findings. I'm going to try it out first with the stock short pump and then if it works out install the frontrunner. I'm not crazy about changing a ton of stuff in one shot.

Sweet I remember reading the thread just didn't remember what it looked like. Do you go to junkyards in Tucson or arizona city

Zellway. I'm loving the build. Nice work! I had questions about your Retrosound. I read your review on Crutchfield, thanks for posting the link! I have a Custom Autosound in a 1971 K5 and it is horrible. Constant whining, poor sound quality ect. And I do know it is the Stereo as I have redone all wiring, isolated wires, you name it, I've done it. I used to install sound systems and security systems in autos for a living. I also temporarily wired up an old Sony deck that sounded wonderful with no whining. So much better sound in fact that I didn't even know my system had bass, and with the old Sony deck (pull out type) it had highs and lows that were not there. Also I tried an Alternator made by Powermaster for 110 amps and better build quality. So, back to my question. Does your Retrosound deck have any alternator wine? Also wanted to ask if you have it hooked up to an amplifier. Currently I have my deck powered with an amp, with the kick panels 6 1/2" speakers and old Pioneer Truck boxes (TS-TRX800) in back. Also wondered if the Retrosound has a CD Changer control as I have the CD-10 in there as well. Anyways, I just wanted confirmation as to the Retrosound decks quality and some features as I am almost ready to cut the dash for a good stereo lol. Thanks for your time. keep up the great work and awesome thread!

My system is all off the head unit. No amp (yet:devil:) Retro sound is a great unit. No wine at all. I did install a Custom Autosound unit is my 56 bel-air and I was not happy at all. I have installed Retro sound units in 4 other truck and no one has had anything bad to say. I love the unit in my Suburban, I even have the mic setup for hands free and that is big help on the road. I will have to check if you can add a changer to my unit. I never looked, I rock the USB or Bluetooth audio in all my stuff. I would rock a stock radio and hide a head unit before cutting the dash.

Thank you for your reply and excellent information. Also helps that you told me your, not so good, experience with Custom Autosound. I had read on the forms that they were no good, but after facto. :waah: Retro Deck will probably be the next purchase. Oh and BTW, you had/have a Bel Air!? Wow! Keep up the great work and thank you again.

Fan fit just fine. I can even fit a normal ratchet on the belt tensioner. I still have a few small things to work out but I'm happy with it. Sorry about the bad pic's it has been vary windy out.

It's a stock fan from a 2004 jeep grand Cherokee in the stock shroud. I added some foam to seal it a bit tighter and the fan works good. I will be road testing it this weekend and it's going to be over 100.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Looks like it came that way from the factory.

Re: Ol Blue

So the weekend trip to Tucson went fine. I only have a stock gauge in the truck and it works but it would be nice to have a number to base this on. It ran about 1/8" lower then with all the stock belt and fan setup on this gauge. I had a temp gun with me and when I would stop in I would temp the block and it was under 200 deg at each stop. I pushed it hard on the high way and it didn't mind at all. So next step is to get the lines for the a/c done and try to stay cool this summer.

Looking over this and relized I never posted pic's of the inner fenders. All holes welded up and inside done in bedliner coating. Burb has been my daily driver and working on other projects. As things cool off I will get back to work on Old Blue. Been reading up on air ride and looking over other peoples builds for ideas. I think at this point it's the next logical update

Man I have been slacking! Just been driving and enjoying it. I have a few other projects going. I need to get in gear with the rear A/C before it's gets hot out. I did to a small upgrade.

Getting around to the little stuff. AZ summer heat is just around the bend and the A/C is still only half installed. I'm still undecided on a rear A/C unit. I'm looking at the unit from Nostalic ac. Need to step this side of the project up if I want to rock it this summer

Still working on details for the a/c. The first rear evap I got was damaged in shiping so I'm waiting on the new one. I have picked up the tools needed to make lines from home. I hope to have that done and pic's up by end of May if all works out.

Got a few small spots. I don't think any truck that lives outside will be safe for long. But I will keep rocking it even with some holes. I can fix that in time:lol:

New grill and bumper. Also you can see the new marker lights also. No much more to report yet. Still working out the air ride ideas. Thinking the PB stage 2 in back and some drop spindles up front.

Thanks guys. It's been slow moving on this. The heat has landed in AZ and I'm still kicking around the A/C work. I have the rear a/c unit on the way but still a ton of work to get done first. Might park it till I can get that all done. :waah:

A/C works great for the people in the front seat but something will need to be done if I want people to ride in back. I have been feeling a little shake at 65mph to 75mph and found the center bearing rubber was gone. I replaced it and check out the under side a bit more. Not much is going to be needed.

This is a nice suburban. I have a 70 2wd I dropped the rear 4HD cpp coils with blackmagic cpp shocks also relocateors an my rear axle is sitting on the bumper stop

How is the ride with that setup? I'm set on going air ride but for the time springs like that might be nice.
