It was a productive weekend on the truck. Had a buddy come over and help me knock out the upper spring mounts. Still have to add a few gussets, upper shock mounts, and smooth over some welds. But for the first time since I got the frame on jack stands it is sitting on its own springs.

Started on the steering this past weekend. I bought high steer arms from Ruff Stuff Specialties, and was able to modify a pitman arm from skyjacker to fit my Chevy steering gear. I had to order a 3/4" drill bit that hasn't come in yet, gotta drill the tapper out of the high steer arms and the pitman arm. I used a 1/2" bolt for mock up and made sure I left some extra thread for the bolt size difference. Still have to add a stabilizer shock to the system.

Re: C20 to K20 Conversion "Simply Toxic"
Good to see the progress.

Re: C20 to K20 Conversion "Simply Toxic"
This truck is going to be a beast. Nice progress.

Re: C20 to K20 Conversion "Simply Toxic"
That high steer looks killer. I want to run that setup when I swap to my 60. Nice work

Re: C20 to K20 Conversion "Simply Toxic"
Ruff Stuff is a great source for brackets, tabs, shackles, axle perches, etc. Good prices and good quality. Got my axle perches and ubolt plates for the rear axle from them. My brother has used their products on a few projects as well.

Re: C20 to K20 Conversion "Simply Toxic"
Same here actually, my 14 bolt perches and shock mounts came from ruff stuff. Really beefy parts.
There Dana 60 steering stuff looks top notch as well. Thanks for the link above. |

Got out and put the last piece of the front suspension on this past weekend, got the trac bar put on. Still have to clean up some welds and add gussets to stuff. But for the first time in 4 years the old girl is sitting and rolling on all 4 again.

Got the other body panels on it to make room in the garage for my Dads truck coming over for a engine swap before it goes to paint. Its a 1965 C10 long bed. I was able to get a good look of what the old girl will look like once its completed. |

Trying to sell my SM465 (this is NOT a for sale post) right now so I can pick up a 4L80. I decided to switch over to automatic. Also have my dads truck 1965 C10 in the shop, pulling the inline 6 and manual trans out of it. Putting a e85 350/th350 setup in it, old setup was having issues, its all getting replaced. |

Well, I've had my dads truck in the shop the last few weeks doing a engine swap on it. Its a 1965 C10, we ended up taking the 250 and the 4 speed out of it. Swapped in a 350 bored .040 over with a th350 trans. Doing the final tune on it and sending it home in a couple of days. Once its tuned I'll post a video on youtube and attach a link here.

Re: C20 to K20 Conversion "Simply Toxic"
That 350 should get him around a bit quicker than the old I6. Remember good times working with my dad.

How is your truck coming along? No updates since last year.

Have some projects for others as well myself. An injury had halted everything. Now trying to get the others done while still keeping my project going forward. I know how it can add to frustration.

Re: C20 to K20 Conversion "Simply Toxic"
Well after working on a various other projects and what not. I am finally getting back on this project. Between the last post and now, I got a 2002 Silverado 1500HD with a 6.0 LS, 4L85E, NP246. Just got done striping that out, selling all my SBC stuff and parts I don't need off of the Silverado. Next step on the truck will be fixing issues with the suspension. and then building mounts for the new LS drivetrain. More progress pictures coming soon!

Re: C20 to K20 Conversion "Simply Toxic"
Looking forward to the updates.

So after having a ton of time off from this project. I decided to cut the firewall out to mount the engine back as far as I can. Got the engine roughly mounted in.

So the previous post was pictures taken before I bought a parts truck, 2002 Chevy 1500HD, 6.0, 4L80E, NP264. Since I have the LS now to put in the truck, I sold the 383 and all the work that I did to get it mounted and what not I decided to change my idea. I am giving myself more leg room, so I cut the floor at the transition to the firewall and cut it away from the kick panel. Then bent it down to about an inch from the frame. One the passenger side I made up a 2" spacer piece and modified the floor brace to fit the new firewall.

Moved to the driver side this past weekend. On this side I made up a 3" spacer and bent the floor down to about an 3/4 of an inch from the frame. The two black bars you see is to keep alignment of the inner cab structure for the steering wheel and brake set up. I broke the welds to make it easier to remove from the old firewall. So now we are up to date on the build.

Re: C20 to K20 Conversion "Simply Toxic"
I did sell the seats from the earlier post to my dad, and put those in his 1965 C10. Those turned out pretty good in that truck. I am considering putting the rear seat out of the 2002 Crew Cab Silverado that I have. It is a pretty comfortable seat and is more of a bench style. I'll have to modify the floor to make it work so I am still thinking it over.

Re: C20 to K20 Conversion "Simply Toxic"

Started on the driver side this weekend. Got it welded in for the most part. Need to make a extension to the top and bottom of the inner bracket. Still need to cut a section of the floor out and add a filler piece. We also added a lower brace filler to rebuild the strength in the lower brace that was cut out to allow the floor board to bend down.
