Both of them look really good. The green one is a little more custom looking to me for some reason.

I love the green one. I just can't get that shade of blue out of my head from the moment I saw it.

I know. I really like the green but going with my gut. I'm wearing a green shirt today.... Lol. My wife said your shirt would look good with your green burb, your wife's green eyes and your shirt. Lol. She's a trip.

The blue looks kick @ss. And green is my favorite color! So to say that another color beats it out it has to be impressive... And that blue IS

I like them both, those rederings are awesome, and your ride is gonna be sick!!

I'm partial to green...... My last major project was a '66 VW Bus, and I went with green, against everybody's advise....

Land Rover Kent Green Metallic. I think it worked-out okay

Thanks guys. Loved that bus, but long gone now. Did a 64 notch as well. I think I'm gonna hit Joseph up too. Need some renderings to keep me focussed. My ideas change as quick as my wife's mood:devil:

Got a call from my CPA and looks like I'm $2800 short on the years payout. This after a year of paying in what I thought was WAY too much to begin with. There go my next batch of parts..... Lol

I guess I'll have to clean the garage instead. Haha. I mean who really needs all those parts anyways..............

This is actually the best time to learn new stuff. When you don't have money, you try to make stuff on your own and next thing you know you have a new skill for the old toolbox.

That sucks brother. But like bruin d says break out that welder! Who knows what you will build! I know that money will do things that nothing else will but don't be discouraged.

Re: 68 Burb... here we go!!

It's all good. I've got a good size list of stuff to do. I still have to finish my rear floor, plumb up air ride, brakes and a ton of finish work on the susp and brakes. Oh yea... And cleaning the garage. Lol. I've got a sectioned crossmember and some a arms I'll modify to get the front down more. Let that welder start buzzing!!!

That sux about the shortfall. Just another kick in the junk for the working man. Keep turning-out the quality work, and all will work-out brother.

We got hit with mandatory furloughs 2 1/2 years ago, and just went I thought I could see the light at the end of the tunnel, they took another 2.5% from our salary.

So now I look at it as one extra day a month I get to work in the garage!

well the truth of it is I have most of everything to finish this stage of it. I could have it driving in a week. Ive been saving up to do the front with either a DM or a Scotts front kit. Seems like something always comes up. That is just the way it is lol. No complaints from me though we all have our health and great jobs. My wife was in a bad car wreck 2 weeks ago and that kind of makes you rethink whats really important. Wifes ok and kids are ok..... trailblazer...... not so much.
Ill just use the stuff Ive got and fab up the stuff I need. I think it makes it more fun that way... not easier... just funner like my 4 year old says.

well after much thought and research Ive made my decision. Im going with a Scotts Hot Rods Super Slam IFS. Ive been thinking about it for quite some time now. Talked with Justin this last week a couple of times and pulled the trigger and ordered it. I got a call from Justin today with an update on my order, they started making it and it will be done Wednesday!!! So looks like 2 weeks or so to my front door. I cant wait.
Ive gotten the garage cleaned out and going to pull the engine this week if all goes well to clean up the engine bay. Just wondering if Im going to shave it and paint the fire wall while I have the engine and susp parts out of the way. I guess we will see.
Later guys... ill post pics of the tear down and clean up of the engine bay.

well the tear down happend today... just not on the burb.
My Nova got pissed that I was spending all my time on the burb so she threw a fit. I put in new spark plugs last week while doing some other stuff to her. Turns out the plugs I was given were too long... so boom. Piston meet Plug.. plug meet piston... a freaking mess. I had two plugs break off inside the engine. I found one of them today the other is either hidding behind valves or went out the exhaust. Either way they kicked ass and took some names. It will be torn down all the way and new pistons put in, bearings ect. This way I can rest assured shes right and wont have to tear her down again. I had a slight piston slap on cyl 8, Im guessing a loose bore so that will will be corrected. Its bored .30 now Im going .60 and a nice freshen up.... maybe a bigger cam... stall converter.... new heads... what the hell.... lol.

i really hope sometime next year or after i can starting saving up for pb dropmember...but i just have to much on my plate and want to get it on the road already.

Re: 68 Burb... here we go!!

Well after a 31 days with my trailblazer the body shop said it would be done that afternoon. I called them and they said it was at the alignment shop. So I popped in to see my truck. The twisted mess of a truck Tyat sat there was not even close to being right. Doors were not aligned, hood and fenders all wrong. Body work and paint looked like a blind cripple man did it. I hit the roof!! Engine leaking oil, they painted my old rim and put it back on... Soo many things. One call to my insurance adjuster an hw meet me there. He was furrious..... The estimate of $6300 was now well over $9k!! He totaled the truck on the spot. Told the shop not to touch it again and called a tow truck to take it back to his office. WOW!! What a week. It has been a crazy one.
Now I'm looking for a new suv for the family..... Trailblazer was almost paid for, 8 more payments. Oh well. I'll update on the burb this weekend.
Later!!

Thanks guys. I'm going to try and buy something cash. I've always had a car payment since I was 17. Might try this no car payment thing out. The hard part is that it's my wife's car not my daily driver. She has the kids every day so i want to get something nice for her. Looked at a few today just need to find the right deal.
Rob it was a Cockrell's on old palafox.

updates... !!! woo hoo.

Well Ive been a little busy fixing the motor in my Nova and working on her for a bit. I should be getting that back on Tuesday... I hope.
Well I started the tear down of the front to get ready for the Scotts super slam kit. I am amazed that I have not found any rust on her.... shhh dont tell anyone. Shes in really good shape!! Well the ac has come out, selling that whole set up. Ive listed almost everything on the parts board, I still have to clean up some of them and list them.
The 396 was a bear to get out of there.. shes a little heavy. I pulled it all by my self so I was going a little slow. Total time invested in the tear down 3 hours. Ill pull her out of the garage and power wash it all up then finish the tear down. I have a PORTERBUILT fire wall shave kit that will be put in this week. I have been thinking about fire wall.... paint it black or body color??? what to do.

jmedero 11-05-2011 10:13 PM

Re: 68 Burb... here we go!!

I also need to figure out hood hinges. I have seen the PORTERBUILT set up and they are clean. I also seen a couple of guys do the GRANT KUSTOMS hinges. I like the porter set up with the struts. I also like how clean the Grant ones are, no bolt holes on the fire wall just a very clean set up. Price is also very diff on both. Obviously the PB set up has more bells and whistles... I guess ill figure that out next.

I do have a question for you shaved fire wall guys. I have an ezwire full kit that will rewire the truck with. Can I shave the factory wire harness box off the firewall? I think so right... any input would be great.
Thanks
Juan
