Mike,
My truck is lowered 2.5 in. in the front and 3 in. in the rear, measured from the top of the wheelwheels-31 in. in the rear & 30" in the front. I really do not want to lower it anymore.
Looks like your truck is just a bit higher than mine.

Dale

If I have a 9" wide rear wheel what size tire would about the same height as a 275/50 -17. Thanks

I've run the 275/50-17's on a 17x9.5 rim. They fit fine.
I used the 255/50-17's on a set of 17x8's up front.

Thanks Nate,
Yeah, Bumbera is almost done. I had to buy a new Steering Column from CPP. I upgraded to a tilt wheel with the Hazard flasher (mine did not have this feature). The re-built column got here this A.M.. Bumbera almost had it installed at lunch today. They also got the Rear Shock relocation kit/brackets installed, what a difference that made!! I noticed you did that mod on your truck. Since I was'nt lowering my truck as much as you did, I was hoping I would not need to re-locate the shocks.....wrong moosebreath!!!!! Anyway they need to button up the steering and finish the wiring. They are shooting for putting the truck in the muffler shop wed. Hopefully, I get to take the truck home by the end of the week.....;);)

Re: 1969 GMC Short Fleet Build

I've kind of learned that shock relocators are almost a must have when you lower a truck. In some instances you can get away with not running them, but in most cases, it better just to do it while you're under there.

If you want to take it on its maiden voyage, head up to the Magic Dragon meet April 30-May 2; you will not be disappointed. :D

You will be in good company....

Right..... Bumber's finished the steering box and exhaust today. The truck is now home at my residence for the first time! I took the truck directly off of the transporter to Bumbera's back in February. So at the end of April, its finally done!! At least most of the major mechanical is done, still have aways to go to declare the truck finished. However, it is driveable, and is inspected and tagged. The new Suspension and Disc Brakes work fine, the truck tracks straight and corners flat with the new 1 1/4" front sway bar. She rides very nice for a 41 year vehicle. The ZZR 350 engine and the twin flowmaster exhaust sounds great. All things considered I am very pleased with the results of the build. The guys at Bumbera's did a great job!! ;);)

Next, its my turn to work on the truck, This is my To do list:

1. Re-build the doors, all wheather stripping, window felts and scrapers, All new vent window ass'bly, window regulators, etc. .

2. Get a new Line-X bedliner sprayed in and new Tonnue cover installed.

3. This is the biggie, Install a Vintage Air AC unit.

Here is a few pics I took today when they had the truck on the alignment rack.......

Thanks guys for the kind words. I feel a little guilty because I had the work done by a shop, however at 61 with health issues, I just did not have another restoration in me. However I will learn to to live with it!!;);) and I have lots left to do myself.

Hey Nate, what do you think the truck would look like with a little white paint on the roof and lower panels? Maybe even a lower woodgrained molding?;)

Mike,

Thanks for the Kudo's, sorry about twisting your arm buying the new wheels!!;);) but I bet they look sweet on your truck and you got the five spoke version which is what I wanted to do, but could not spring for the extra cost of converting to five lug.

Had a Extreme Bedliner spray in today and an Alarm installed by the same people. I went with the "Extreme liner" after reading good reviews about it. I have an "Extreme truck center" two blocks from my house which worked out fine. I am very happy with the results, I'll post pics tonight.;)

Yeah, "Extreme" is the new kid on the block. Texture and shine wise they look alot like the LIne-X bedliner. Kinda Glossy looking.
