Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I put a "new" to me glove box in my 67, it was one of two that came with the 70 GMC 'burb we just hauled home. Started taking out the 4 speed in the burb to put into my 67. No I didn't take pics LOL.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I installed a ECE hidden hitch setup on my 71. My 8 year old son was the perfect assistant to get the job done. It took a few hours to get the holes drilled but it turned out really cool.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
got all the parts i ordered from autozone to do the rear brakes on my longhorn c20.
Realized the whell cylinders were wrong, so went back to autozone and they started passing the buck blaming everbody and their grandma for the wrong parts. Settled for a refund on the wheel cylinders from autozone, went to napa and picked up the "right" ones. set down to do the brakes and realized autozone gave me the wrong size brake shoes. They gave me the 12' instead of the 11 2 and 3/4 i ordered. After driving there and haggling for a refund, i went to napa and got the "right" ones. You think i would now better than to deal with autozone, but i thought i'd save a few "bucks" instead ended up wasting 4 complete days! should have went to napa in the first place. now daylight is gone and have to wait for tomorrow to start. All this after i waited 4 days for autozone to "order" the parts from their warehouse. then to realize they were wrong parts, wheel cylinders and brake shoes. (they did get the brake hardware right though) never again with autozone. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Started mock up on my electric fan setup yesterday and removed all the bed to frame bolts. Got a couple buddies down today and acheived bed separation. Was gonna just install a fuel cell but I'm thinkin this is as good of time as any to clean and paint the frame and do some exhaust work. You all know how that snowballs!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Built 3 inch tailpipes that come out behind the rear tires on a angle, changed the oil and cleaned up some mess....

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I sure wish I had got some stuff done on my trucks, but no.
I moved both trucks, '67 and '71 steppers, to carports so I can get the garage ready to start working on the back of the '67 so I can put the bed on it. Having a small garage and working on two trucks seem to slow progress. Danny |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Went to move the truck the other day so I could spray/prep the rear for removal but it wouldn't start. Hoped it was the filter, but ended up being the fuel pump. Almost finished the install of the pump and found a leaky thermosat housing.:banghead:

Well my Wife did about 99% of this to my Truck today, but I figure since we've been Married 20 years, it would be permissible for this Thread.;)
I've installed the Leather Seats in my Truck, but with the Gas Tank still there, when the Console is folded down you STILL see it. :waah: My Wife says to me, "Hey you need a Pillow between your Seats to hide the Gas Tank". Then it hits me, that I've got (2) 12" Embroidered Rat Fink patches, I bought from Ed Roth's Wife about 6 years ago. They've been tucked away, so I asked my Wife if she could sew the Patch on to a Pillow? Viola' there you have it, and since the "Theme" of my Truck is going to be the Rat Fink, (license plate "RATIKLE"), it was a no brainer!!!:metal: |

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
went through the entire headlight/ alternator harness.. repaired 40 years of cutting and splicing...
made a whole new rear taillight harness from old stock... ripped out the front to rear intermediate harness and found more cuts and splices... geeze.. guess going to pick n pull tomorrow... Contemplating starting a build thread... was gonna use this as a beater DD.. but the more I work on her the more I fall in love with her.. Its not going to be show quality.. but a looker for sure... not sure yet.. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Got to fitting my fuel cell between the frame rails, can't cut a straight line to save my life! Lots of touch up grinding to do to get it to fit.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I made a bunch of little holes into one big hole....

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Replumbed the fuel cell... Went from -8 to -6 bulkhead...had to make a couple of aluminum washers to fill the 3/4" hole in the fuel cell.
Also started making some fuel line brackets out of aluminum flat stock. They hold 2 3/8" aluminum fuel lines from the notch back to the fuel cell. Then the ones in front of the notch will be 2 3/8" fuel lines and a 3/16" brake line. Originally saw how to build these on the HAMB forums...but someone has a write up here in the FAQ. Pics later Kinda hard to get the 3/8" holes right in center of the 2 pieces of aluminum. But they will work fine. The long bracket needs to get cut down. It was the first one...trying to get the spacing right. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g3...g/DSC06520.jpg |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Went to the body shop to tape out the separation for the two-tone paint scheme and the colored stripe that runs between the two colors:metal: the inside is painted, the jambs are done, and the gaps are set in stone! The guy doing all the body work is incredible! I had some pretty good rust issues on my (top) lift-tailgate... enough to have me lookin for another one. He cut it all out, treated the inside of the tailgate with rust arrest liquid... and then welded all new metal in there, and prepped and painted.... looks better than new!
I am stoked it comes home this weekend! |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Threw an entire demolished bathrooms worth of sheet rock, tile and concrete in the back! Love those extra leaf springs.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Stuffed the '71 in the garage and jacked/blocked it up. Sprayed everything with PB blaster that I think I needed to for the axle removal. Chased a wiring issue with backup lights. Keeps popping fuses.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
This took longer than a day but I had "help" from Mother Nature :D
Anyone who saw my truck at GotG knew I was catching up with a "parking lot" water pump change and leak...chased it through a few quickie attempts until Sunday I took everything off the front of the motor, then the rain started falling hard and drove me inside. I cleaned, prepped and spray painted everything (not show quality, just better and lighter without the crud) and suffered through primer up my sinuses  as well as nothing drying under the humidity then when it stopped raining I cleaned, prepped and sprayed the front of the block before reassembling everything on Tuesday. No leaks finally and I identified my next project--the balancer needs to properly removed and reinstalled. Also discovered the replacement radiator I have to go in, has been a 4-row all along. Maybe I shouldn't do things to the truck anymore, I keep finding more things to do!!! |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I let my daughter take a friend of hers out in it. They made it back in one piece. whew.
