Just a question for you...I've seen a few posts regarding custom rads that are bought from a certain guy (forgot his name) on ebay where he can do custom sizes, input / output etc etc and I'm wondering if you know if its possible to have that water hose come in the top passenger side of the rad instead of crossing the front of the motor?
I'm not sure if it has to be the way it is due to the circulation flow of the coolant through the rad and it's exit point? I'm just getting ready for my motor swap (LQ9) and trying to get some planning done ahead of time for it. |
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
Gordon, Flex-A-Lite will make custom rads also. You can have one made w/in/out on pass side.
Don, fantastic work man. Just wish I could find me a body/paint guy to work on mine now. hummmm |

Re: project " Blue-Ray"
you can have both the in/out on the pass side, or both on the dr. side, or anything in-between....what i like about this setup is you can go into any parts store and tell them you need a rad hose for a chevy truck, instead of trying to remember the part number of the hose that fits with the outlet on the pass side..

Re: project " Blue-Ray"
got the new electric fans installed..the're 5000 cfm, and def. did the trick for the high side pressure being high at idel...plus they fit like a glove in the engine compartment...
and id post installed pics, if my computer would,nt of locked up on me when i was trying to upload them, and lost the installed pics...i also installed some super bright blue LED lights, in place of the normal filament style 194 bulb.. and the reason is so the guages would be easier to see at night..here is a side by side shot of the bulbs, again no good installed pics do to the puter... http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/PB190076.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/PB190077.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/PB190079.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/PB260091.jpg http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c8...y/PB260092.jpg |
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
Thats what I'm talking about, That is sweet. And the led did do the trick too I think. got love that. I think if I get the fans up to speed I might be able to launch into traffic . whatca think guys. Also forgot to ask , did you put a over flow tank for rad> like in your 68 short step black truck, just looked through forum pics and saw yours. ? thanks don

Just got done with putting grill and trim on for now it will stand as is until I can get some $$$$ for a good paint job. I hear from other's on here that the patina look is in so i think it will roll with it for now. What do you guys think? Also had it lowered by 68 ss He is the best at what he has done so far. Rally Rims in powder coating soon and new tires too soon. Any suggestions on tires? Front bumper coming back from powder coating soon, and will post pics of it too.
|
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
So I guess Blue Ray is back at home now? All you lack is finishing.
|
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
Can't wait to see it rolling down the streets man. As far as tires I tend to like Pirelli or BF G's

Just got the bumper back from powder coat and it looks pretty good I think. I know it might be sitting alittle off shown here in pics and will try to adjust later on , but you get the idea. Let me know what you guys think ! Also thinking of putting fog lights in original square holes on bumper where turn signals were. Any suggestions there as well.

Re: project " Blue-Ray"
All i can say its Killlllllllllllller :metal: I like the sleeper look
|
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
The powder coated 81-82 bumper looks great. I'm just not feeling the vibe on those bumper guards.
|
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
Is the bumper actually powder coated chrome, or is the back side just powder coated gray and the face is regular chrome?

I had to add this 100 amp in line to the batt. return terminal from altenator. I add don reuse old wiring from original 84 motor setup when doing this so I guess the wire could not handle the load of amprege coming from it as well so I replaced with (10 Ga.) and added this 100 amp resetable in-line to the block on firewalll. We'll see. Also put some teflon bushing and bolts on the top rad. hose to help keep it off the fan blades near where it was sitting. They are 1 3/4" adel type with rubber padding. Off Ebay thanks again don for all your help.

I have done very little due to money issues , but am looking forward to getting it on the road soon. Thanks for all the comments. I have bought new tires and repainted old rally rims myself. It turned out ok I think. Plus shined up chrome alittle. next thing is the interior. oh joy. any suggestions on sound deaden or how to repair a cracked dash.
|
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
Those rallies look great. Nice work. I understand the whole money thing for sure.
As far as the interior goes good luck with that one. You can buy aftermarket parts for everything but most don't fit too good. I have seen some guys do fiberglass repairs on here that turned out nice. I tried it on my son's truck and it was just too far gone. Keep the updates coming:) |
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
any updates? what colour are you thinking of painting it?
also how much of a drop did you do? looks great. |
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
$$$ isues??? don't lettem fool ya...only $$ issue is getting it from momma! Need some updated photos...maybe a burn out or two!
|
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
Thinking of going back with two tone as shown, but am open to options from the viewers. The drop is 2.5" drop spindle and 5" rear flip. done by no other than 68 short step. I am going to try my hand at the interior if I can. any suggestions on sound deaden? brand or co$t. and carpet , ect? thanks again for looking
|
Re: project " Blue-Ray"
I like the idea of the two tone paint. Especially if you are running the oem style mouldings. It's pretty hard to beat the factory look of these trucks. I love them. One of these days I'll own one of my own with LS power too.:)
