Wow! You guys are doing a great job convincing me to get her back.
You're making me think of 10 years from now, and possibly regretting letting her slip through my fingers again. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: What is this Truck?
Just curious, does it still have the fleetside tail lights?

Going to go look at it this afternoon.

Re: What is this Truck?
Well, I went to see it today.
I'll start with the most discouraging thing. It's probably not a big deal to many, but I really wish it still had the Buddy Buckets - it does have a bench with semi decent tracks. The body does have its cancer, but surely can be salvaged. It's amazing how these trucks get hacked up over the years. Someone cut some real sorry holes in the firewall. They put old scrap carpet on the floors that is soppy wet, holding moisture to the floor. I'm mobile, so I'll post this pic now, and will post more later when I get back to my computer. He said he'd sell it to me for $1500. Yes, Mark, it still has the fleetside tail-lights. http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/...8148802975.png Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: What is this Truck?
They turned the rear bumper upside down. Never seen that done on these trucks.

Re: What is this Truck?
I have to ask, Are you gonna buy it ????????
|
Re: What is this Truck?
Thats not a bad price at all!! I'd jump on it if I were you considering the history you have with the truck. I did it once and totally regetted it. Luckily the guy I sold it to felt bad for me cause of the history I had with the truck and sold it back to me after month of harrasing him he he......

Re: What is this Truck?
I can really appreciate how torn you must feel. Many years ago I bought my wife an extremely clean, rust free, one owner 1968 F250 camper special. She loved that truck and we made many improvements including a new rebuilt engine. In an act of supreme thoughtfulness she gave it to one of our kids. Rather than being treated like the treasured jewel we loved and respected, it was abused and neglected. Much of the original body trim is torn off, there’s a fresh crease in the hood, sits most of the year filled with trash, and continues to deteriorate at an accelerating pace. Just looking at it now makes her sick. If it was given back to her for free, she’d get rid of I because she couldn’t stand looking at it.
On the other hand, back in 1966 my first driver was a 1954 Chevy 2 door sedan. It wasn’t much, but I installed a blended Bel Air windshield, added chrome rims, my first floor shifter, and accomplished some very nice body work before applying my very first paint job. If that car fell in my lap today in the condition of your old truck for $1500, I’d snap it up in a heartbeat. I hope you come away from this encounter feeling good about whatever you decide. |

Here is some pics I took today:

Re: What is this Truck?
seems like a very fair price based upon the pics...i know how you feel when seeing how things have changed since it left you...i worked really hard on some grille changes from my old '93 C-1500...after i sold it, i came across it a year later with a different grille that had a homemade bowtie emblem and crooked sidemarker lights (not to mention other neglect)...on a different note, my dad sold a '64 short/fleet that was intended to become mine...it was very solid and would've made a sweet ride with little effort...he sold it to a guy he works with, who still has it to my knowledge...not sure what condition it's in today, but i often think to myself how much i'd love to have it back....something about those ones with sentimental value

Re: What is this Truck?
This pic shows some of the cancer.
The Driver's Fender is rusted way up. I surely don't understand the mirrors - they block so much peripheral view: http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/...5/IMAG0739.jpg |
Re: What is this Truck?
Thanks again for all the support and encouragement to not let it go again.
I brought it up to my wife and she said: 'Why do you need another truck? !!' I even told the owner she'd say that. :D No, it won't cause a strain in our marriage. :) - Married 21 years in 8 days. I told her she could consider it my anniversary present. :D The worse case is if something happens to us financially, I can sell one. But which one? I'm really digging my 66. It's a Real Truck, and this 65 is more of Street Rod. Thanks for the great community. Oh, I just remembered; She asked if this truck could haul a ton of wood pellets for our woodstove? |
Re: What is this Truck?
I've kept up with this thread and have also knew about losing your '65. I can't believe you have finally found it again. I really hope you get the truck back. It seems like a no-brainer to me! Buy it no matter what the condition is. You can put it back to the way it was or even better now!
You know ever fiber of your being wants to have this truck back!! Do it and never have to wonder about the what ifs. Good luck! Keith |
Re: What is this Truck?
You know what?
You all are right! I'll email the guy right now and tell him okay, I want it back! :D :D :D |

Re: Lost My 65
The owner emailed me back and said Great!
He said he was hoping I'd want it. He said he had offers from others but didn't feel right with their possible motives for the truck. He said he's glad it's going to someone who'll appreciate it. He was pretty disgusted with some of the hack work some previous owner had done to it. Myself, I'm thinking someone offered some past owner a couple hundred bucks for the buddy buckets and said they'd even throw in a replacement seat (the bench it has now) Some past owner had to of not understood the coolness of the old buddy buckets. :( Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Lost My 65
Is that going to be on top your list to do to the truck? The buddy buckets......

Re: Lost My 65
I really hope you get the truck back. You'll have a GREAT story to tell(already do), you'll get a chance to fall in love with the truck all over again, and you'll get a chance to improve the truck to be absolutely perfect for you! You can find the missing parts-maybe even get some great deals as you set about freshening the truck up. Enjoy! Few of us ever recatch "the one that got away!"

Re: Lost My 65
Top on the list:
#1; get that soggy carpet up and let that floor dry. #2; give her a good cleaning. #3; get those bumpers back right side up. #4; park her under cover and get my 66 back together. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Lost My 65
Thanks to the Moderators for merging these two threads.
