I don't think that orange truck hauls anything now. It's restored to perfect. You could eat off the frame. I wish I had pictures from behind.

Here's one from the show that might suit your needs better than that purdy thang:

Yep, that looks like a real solid truck, I think thats only about the third pete I've ever seen with off road fenders, third vintage narrow nose that is. Fairly rare to see one with daytons also, thats a cool truck. Hey keep the pics coming, looks like a great day at the truck show.

I wish I got a picture of the auxiliary trans set-up. That Pete was a beast! It was for sale but no price on it. I'd own it for sure. I like 'em build for serious duty more than fancy.

There was a lot of Macks at the show (factory hometown) and a little Peterbilt

Someone did a good job on the little pete, if the big one was'nt sitting next to it you would never suspect. Did you get a pic of the big one, that thing has a set back front axle.

The sign board said it was built/owned by a truck paint & body business. They really did do a tits-up job on that. It's true to scale (1/2 I think) in every way. Imagine all the work! That one next to it was brand new. Maybe built for a mixer or dump body? I'm not sure I got other pictures. We got there Friday eve and maybe 2/3 of the trucks were there. They really filled in on Saturday. I saw registration numbers in the 620s. I get up a lot earlier than my buddy,so I walked to the diner for coffee, then walked around and got some quick pics. I got others once the show filled in but not nearly as many as I should have. Tell the truth I lost track of what I did and didn't get. One thing about shows is the trucks are packed against each other and you can't get the whole thing in a picture.

I caught this handsome combo rolling in:

A nicely done period correct ( 5 hole Alcoa's +Mercury sleeper ) 351 Pete seen at a truck show. Cabs look basically the same('72 and older), but the look is all in the front end.

Bingo! Much better photo:metal:Thankyou! A period correct (time machine) truck always does it for me. I know its very difficult and more expensive to find correct pieces, but the result is priceless. Isn't true the CAT powered pre '72 conventionals had extended hoods, both in butterfly and tilt?

Found a couple of possible prospects today, like I said, I just don't need any more trucks, never stopped me before.

I thought that truck looked familure, oops wrong spelling. Same truck on post 65, but with the correct bumper, don't think the big bumper was an up grade.

Everything has a time and a place, I liked his striped bumper much better, I like the one you posted much better. Cdot doesn't run nice trucks like that.

I am way weak for old trucks. If I die without owning an old Peterbilt I will consider my life an utter failure. This truck is my favorite out of many, many old truck pics I have collected.

I don't know where to give credit for that picture. I'm a lurker over at Largecar and have collected a lot of pics from there.

Don't even get me started on cab overs either. We'd be here all night while I blabber on. This little truck is as virgin as they come and has a nice surprise hiding underneath the cab.

I use my shop name (Ayers Garage) over there and at most other boards. You'd never know it though, I've lurked a lot at LCM for a year or two but never posted. I just check the new posts a couple of times per day.

I grew up in the cab of a Transtar II then a Pete 362 running all over with my dad. But, other than driving a real nice fire truck every third day I don't have anything constructive to add to any truck discussions.

You mean like when it's snowing? I like the old stripes, arrows, and diamonds better, too. I can appreciate 'em all...customized,doodadded-up,and as they were in the day. I'm likin' as they were the most these days.

At the '11 Carlisle Truck show this was my favorite:

More great photos, thankyou Peanutbutter. The red 281 in post 135 is on my wish list. Notice this one has the optional "Center Point" front axle. This is works almost like a power steering without the actual power steering componets. In other words a fleet owners or poor mans power steering.

Tx Firefighter 06-29-2013 05:59 PM

Re: Bringing home 69 Pete

I sure like the way center point causes those hubs to stick out.

Thanks guys, I knew you two could scratch up something on these. Not something you see around here, I've heard of jifflox but never seen one except for a couple of youtube vids. I need to learn the pros and cons of each one, and which one requires the least amount of modifications to the tractor. I like the single axle tractors but some days the DOTs are out in force.
