Mitch, you were asking about my ft shock mounts. well here they are--cut off. what a mess lol. just get the stick welder and go for it. I guess because of the winch (an being a search & rescue tk) they had coil-over shocks on the ft. so new ft shock mt's coming.

cab is getting real close for paint---
|
Re: 61K10 build
Paint... then it's assembly time! Getting excited yet? Sure looks good.
|
Re: 61K10 build
Mitch--glad you are starting the body work (not as much fun as the frame for sure) excited, well a little. more tired of working and spending $$$ on it. still need the seat done and windshield, bed wood. all are $$$. rear end probably needed to be rebuilt (looking for another to rebuild for the future) don't even know if i can find a 3.90 r&p, but it's getting closer--- take care--
|
Re: 61K10 build
Hey Kimble... what ya doing?
|
Re: 61K10 build
WOW Nice work! As asked...How's it going? :chevy:
|
Re: 61K10 build
Hi guy's--was out of town. next week paint the interior and then the outside of the cab? depends on the weather---

well no paint--raining/cold, so installed rad support and fit the shroud. tk came with a 63-66 rad thats good and they added supports off the rad support to hold the rad. It did not have a shroud so i bought an after market one. bottom line, i have to drill new mounting holes for it.

Re: 61K10 build
going to fire up my eng today, break in the cam and ck for any other problems.
|
Re: 61K10 build
Bet your looking forward to cranking that new engine up. I'm in the same boat!!! Looks great.
|
Re: 61K10 build
well fired up my eng and broke in the cam. had only one problem. my gas line to carb had a pin hole at one of the bends, and my rad has a pin hole some where? ordered a alum one off e-bay for now.
|
Re: 61K10 build
forgot to mention my exhaust sounds great, real quiet like the org.
|
Re: 61K10 build
What....no video of the engine running?
|
Re: 61K10 build
Exciting! Must feel good to have it running.
|
Re: 61K10 build
Gonna be 1 fine looking truck, cant wait to c when your all done
|
Re: 61K10 build
I did take a video--could not get it to upload. no big deal as the fan made more noise than the exhaust at 2k rpm.
|
Re: 61K10 build
We'll let you slide this time on the video....haha. Glad the break in went well. Bet it sounds great!!
|
Re: 61K10 build
Nice and quiet. That's the way to go. Did you go with the stock barrel type Walker exhaust?
|
Re: 61K10 build
You have to upload it on youtube then transfer a link here. If you didn't try that already. Anyhow..glad the motor is running good! :chevy:
|
Re: 61K10 build
thanks TJ for the info
Mitch--used a round muffler like stock--back up a page and you will see by the way, barbeque paint smokes big time when curing lol. |

got my new $165 3 core rad. pretty nice for the price, so should i paint it black or leave it alum?
|
Re: 61K10 build
I vote to leave the aluminum bare. Paint just hinders the heat transfer efficiency, and it already looks so nice!
I've realized its okay to have a few shiny parts on an otherwise all painted pickup! :) |
Re: 61K10 build
Yea ^^^ what Jason said I would leave it.
|
Re: 61K10 build
I've been running one of those radiators since 2009 with no issues. Great radiators.

1963-c10--could not go wrong for the price. on e-bay there are a bunch of rad's from $150 to 350 and they look the same, and yes from china. some want to make a couple of bill's profit i guess, so beware if buying.
Jason-Randy--it's staying alum. had to get a new top hose as my old one was 1 3/4 and the new rad is 1 1/2". got everything mounted up and looks good. I had a small drip on the floor, can you believe a soft/freeze plug (should of knocked them all out and put in brass) we will see if the south of the boarder iron will rust up lol. |
Re: 61K10 build
WOW! Impressive! :chevy:
|
Re: 61K10 build
I see you have pre-wired your headlight relays, smooth move !!
The only nice thing about mine being my first ever buld of this magnatude, is that the next one will be easier as I pre-plan things like this !! It was Markb that I first saw mount the relays on the rad support there, where they would be covered by the radiator support skirts. I have since tucked the wiring for my headlight doors up in there, as it had made a rats nest in the engine bay, but in the future I will no doubt move all those relays to that location as well. Looking good, cannot wait to see more :metal: |
Re: 61K10 build
thanks guy's---so many little things to do.
