Re: 68c10/c6
I did I used everything I could from the Vette including the wiring harness body module ect. The video is done editing I'm just wait on them to release it I just hope it turns out ok

Re: 68c10/c6
My thought on this build is to keep it as factory as possible! I have the vin# to the donor Vette as well as the truck so that say someone driving it X-country and something goes wrong you can go in to the dealer or auto part store and get the parts! I like to build them to drive.

Origionally the doors have a outward curve on the body line maybe a 1/4" out further in the center then front to back. I'm wanting to try and retain that curve in my door, i cut it about 1 1/2" below the body line and it sunk inward under stress. Did you cut right on the body line? below or above? when you cut it did the door skin dish inward under stress? Thanks! |
Re: 68c10/c6
I cut it above the body line about 1 1/8" it will want to curve inward when you weld it! I butt welded it you should weld it 1" at a time and cool it down with air right away this pulling the metal back you may have to hammer & dolly it some! Or if there's no gap you can tig weld it then hammer the weld!

Re: 68c10/c6
If you do this and be patient you can minimize your body filler!

Looks good! I just came back from Grant Kustoms about an hour ago. Bob does some awesome stuff. He closed up the parts side of his business and will no longer be making sheet metal products for the general public. |
Re: 68c10/c6
I got lucky and got this piece just in time! And yes I had this installed in an hour it is a very nice piece!
