Hey! Great to see more young guys on here. I would like to see what your doing to your truck. Do you have a build thread? What are your plans? I've seen some of gibson63's videos and he does great work.

Good to watch your progress.

I wish my wife's son had some interest in mechanical stuff, nope.

I like the way you just keep at it and do what you need to every day.

Thanks for the compliments grizz, I try to get something done every day on the truck and stay motivated so that the truck is ready by the time I'm 17. I don't know what the laws are like over in the uk, but here I can get my learner at 16 and drive with an adult for a year. Then at 17, I can get my novice licence and drive on my own.

Welded some more of the bumper mounts, this will slide and bolt into the frame and the angled end will bolt to the pieces I made earlier with the oblong holes

Picked up my t5 today. Jeep 10 spline input shaft, shortened pilot tip and shortened bearing retainer, S10 tail housing so shifter is in correct location for a bench seat. OD gear is 0.76

Cut a new hole for the shifter and patched the old hole with new metal.
Once I get the driveshaft shortened I should be ready for the road:metal:
Of course I still need to wait a month till I'm 16 and then get my licence.

Quick work on the trans install. Driving that truck should be a lot of fun with a 5 speed

Thanks, I bet it gets cold and loud! I plan on putting some kind of insulation/ sound detonator under the rubber mat to solve this problem.

Thanks, it should be fun and functional:chevy: . I can already tell even without driving it that it shifts so much smoother than the old sm420. And I'll get better gas mileage:metal:

I thought this was the original shifter boot the whole time but when I looked on the bottom side of it I read f*rd! Hopefully the disease hasn't spread to the rest of the truck already!

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

Been busy with school lately but have still been getting a bit done on the truck. I've been having troubles starting it. First I thought it was the carb then I thought It was the ignition but then I found out I had a big vaccum leak that seems to be the problem. So I ordered a new gasket that should be here soon. Hopefully it will solve the problem.
