Finished up the interior. Put in sound and insulation on the back wall where tank used to sit. Have my fake gas filler in (Thanks pjmoreland, Great Product!) Carpeting back in and seat back in again too. Now to get on some body work, then get AC checked/charged

Started, some body work today. Passenger front fender, Ed hit a gate post. I hammered/dollyed it out, Got it pretty straight, trim will cover the few imperfections. Also had some rust coming thru. Cut out some old and and insert new. Drivers side had a little bit, so took care of it. Ran out of gas for the welder, so I'll finish them up later.

Finally had some warm and dry ether to get back on the 70 body work. Got both front fenders welded up,. Drivers side came out better than the passenger side, but a skim of putty should straighten up the passenger one.

Decided to change wheels on it. Retire the truck ralleys for some 16x8 US Mag wagon wheels and 265/70 tires. I have always liked the looks of them and the taller/bigger tire seems to fill it in better. Also added my overflow tank. Its from a 1980 era El Camino. Ran out of sand paper, so order it and will get back on the truck in day or 2.

Put some paint on the body work. The base coat/clear coat doesn't blend super well with the 30 year old single stage, but it should do till I repaint the whole truck. Cleaned it up and took him for a drive before it started to rain.

Finally catching up . Got the new headers on, Sanderson, kinda runs like the ran horns instead of the long tube. I really like them. Muffler guy hooked up the new headers to my old exhaust. He worked to make sure I could access the starter for removal (if ever needed) and clearance for the oil filter. I went with these because they were the only ones I could find that would clear the manual on the tree linkages. so Far I like them a lot. If there is any HP loose, I sure don't notice it. About a month till it racks up a bunch of miles for our Cruising the Coast event.

Update the daily. Found some 17 inch alloys off a Lexus GX470 to replace the 16 inch steel rims. Not perfect, but I like the look. Now to get going on cleaning up the 70 to get ready for Cruisin the Coast in 2 weeks

Those contours in those wheels really blend with the body lines of the truck.:metal:

Been gathering parts for last several months to change my 70 from a 3 on the tree to T350 automatic. Old body says clutch is becoming a big no no. Any how I started disassembly while T350 was getting rebuild (Its set in old shed since 2005 and it had been acting up in friends truck then. It took more than I expected to get the sagniaw out. Never had to remove a manual with the bell housing before. The 2 lower bolts for the trans cones from inside the bell housing. Not reachable friendly when still hooked to engine and flywheel and clutch is in the way.. Did get it out and apart. The bell housing cross member was a pain since I couldn't get my cutoff wheel in there to cut most of them off (only 4 lower ones accessable). I had to use smallish die grinder and air chisel. Took about 2-3 hours per rivet (10 total) to grind their heads down, so the could be punched out.

So now for things to start going back in. Just got tranny back today from rebuild. Turns out it had bad pump and drum along with a bazillion miles on it.. Hope to lift it into place this weekend. Working on getting the tilt column installed and few things ready on inside, then I get to practice strong adjective words as I get the T350 lifted in.

Got the new transmission in. Still have to do the column, linkages and a few other tidbits. Hope to fire things up next week. Had to slide transmission under truck and lift it with 2 ratchet straps onto my transmission jack. After that it was sort of easy. Running the prebent trans cooler lines sure brought out some verbiage also.
