Russian chat is via Google Translate app, but when Vladimir writes up reports on his builds in English a rusted sill plate becomes a broken threshold. Conversely, Stanislav in Siberia is 100% fluent in English, grammatically he outdoes 80% of English speakers straight from his knowledge of English, no translator here, and I speak English with him on WhatsApp. My Russian is super limited. Sometimes I am sorry for the loss of impact in translation. With English as my second language, even explained, the impact of stuff is often lost. Thankfully we still can chat. |

The Easter days are over, we continue with the C10, a New Carpet was laid and fitted and the Sillplate was mounted, the Insulation was attached to the Firewall, the Fuel Tank and the Seat Belts were Installed.
The Door Panels are back in Place. I installed my inner Door Handle the way I removed it, is it pointing the right way around? |
Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
You're making some great progress. I really like your door panels.

Here is a picture from the 1962 Chevrolet Truck catalog - the handles have an angle to them.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Today was a sad day, I tried to install my windshield together with a friend, but the windshield absolutely wouldn't slide in, then an ugly noise and a crack, that's it. Now I have to buy a new windshield first, I'm sad and had to drink a beer first.

Danke für die netten Worte, nein, das muss ich selber bezahlen, noch keine Zulassung.

Not a cheap item I suspect, but at least you can find one. My screen is new and has been laying on top of a wardrobe for 7 years. I hope it fits when the time comes. |

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
That's a good tip, I'll check it out. There is a difference in the seals, which were installed, are significantly softer than those from Precision, I cleaned and prepared them first, a new windshield is on the way.

The new Windshields have arrived, ordered two, better safe than sorry.
:lol: kidding, my buddy needs a new Windshield for his 1960 GMC Apache too. Were delivered really quickly. Now find a Solution for the too narrow Windshield frame. |
Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Excellent news Harald
How much did it cost you per screen to take that photo? |
Re: A '62 has to get back on the road

I think the price is reasonable, there are 2 windshields

News from the Shop.
Brake system is finished and bled, now it also brakes at the rear. Parkbrake cables adjusted, the springs on the cables that sit in the drum were much too long, so the idle travel was too large and therefore had no effect, the cables were also too long, are fairly new and installed by the previous owner, but certainly not for a '62 because the axle comes from a Pontiac...who knows?. But now everything is correct and bites on the 3rd click, very good. Carburetor is actuated via a cable throttel and built for a holder is pretty smooth, mounted a trial the new air filter ..... chic. @62c30 It will have been the original Windshield , the thickness was 5.7mm, the new one is only 5mm. @all, I wanted to take the old Windshield Seal back, it's in mint condition, will it work? |
Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Looking good!

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Very nice and very clean. Great work on a cool 62.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Thank you, I appreciate the kind words.
On Friday my buddy is coming with his pickup and we can bring the huge box with the windshields to my shop, I'm a bit scared to install the new windshield, I can already see myself buying another windshield...... Cross Fingers. |

With the Electrical begun arrange all Wires and installed the fuse box.
With the installation of the Windshield there is positive news, my Buddy has a Buddy who works in a Glass Shop, first the new Windshield comes in the 60s Apache, then another day, the 62 comes. That gives hope. |

The Dashboard is connected to the wiring harness via the original connectors, the front wiring harness also got the connectors in the firewall, is a little more work but worth it. Engine wiring harness is also ready.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
I love these wiring harnesses.
One day, mine will be fitted. |
Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
I have my harness sitting in the box waiting to be fitted. Thanks for the pictures as it has helped me think where I can put mine and how to run it.
Truck is coming along nicely Harald, be driving it soon! P. :D |

The Wiring in the Dash is ready so far, when the steering column comes in, the rest is wired, out to the front for the headlights, I have fitted the original connector with new plugs, the Engine is wired and everything is out to the rear.
After I cracked my windshield while installing it myself, the professionals were allowed to do it today and now it sits the Windshield clean in the Cab. The crossed fingers helped |
Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
BOOOOM !
Nice jobs. |
Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Really like the grey/red contrast. Very smart looking truck.
Thanks for the offer of help on the wiring, when I get to that stage I will be in contact. P. :D |
Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Your truck is looking very cool. Very nice job on the windshield and the wiring is coming along nicely. I don't know how you feel but getting the windshield in is a game changer for getting the truck streetable. Good luck.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
I agree, I'm really happy that the windshield is back in place, the wiring is progressing well.

Wiring under the Dash is finished, I have to come up with something for the safety switch, it was almost in the Firewall and I had to remove it so that the steering column would fit, so there was no one on it. Still made holders for the flasher relay and the wiring harness, looks good. The rear window is back in place too.

Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Everything on your truck is so very neat and tidy.
Looking better than new. |
Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Coming together nicely. Any provisions for a neutral safety switch on that column?
|

I'll probably this reverse switch, down on the steering column, fastened to the shifting, the engine must be started only in P.

Slowly I can do something again, nobody needs Covid19. Inside I'm almost done, the Bench seat still has to go in. I had to install a safety switch so that the engine only starts in "P", the original one collided with the firewall, so nobody was there.
I used a small industrial roller switch and put it on the shift lever Are there actually longer speedometer cables? I find it a little tight with the TH350 Stabilizer is also attached. Shift linkage installed. Rough preset toe, camber and caster. Now the inner fenders could be mounted. Fenders attached, whether the alignment is okay. |
Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
More getting done every day.
Glad you are feeling better. |
Re: A '62 has to get back on the road
Nice neutral safety switch idea.....My after market column has no provisions also
