Some more C10 goodness.....
Wheels Day 2016. PHOTO LINK http://retrorides.proboards.com/thre...-day-2016-pics Once again a pleasure. Brilliantly done for charity every year. I took over 160 photos, and a couple of videos. And this year was brilliant for Nicola and I. Mate Martin went with us and then went to see a friend afterwards, on the way home we all met up with Kerry "Disasterbus" at Cobham services for a coffee. Always good to see friends. BONUS VIDEO....... Rather than post up all the photos, I will keep it relevant. This is how I dream of finishing my truck........ http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...so9dbxqgz.jpeg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...sqwnv5m1c.jpeg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...sq4o7rfgu.jpeg Load bed......... Hmmmmm, yum. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...sekd38zcy.jpeg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...sp0cymnp0.jpeg A few other trucks and a panel were all the 60-66 C10's Ohhhh.... Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Just a little update. I got some time in the garage over the Easter holiday . I had collected the prop from Andy two weeks ago , so it was time to clean it up change over the UJ's and the centre bearing. I had already purchased a billet alloy one from POL .
The two props together note more yellow paint http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psefrbdrs9.jpg Because the cab is in the garage at the moment getting to the vice is awkward . Luckily I have a pull out one in the back of the van . http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps5iko7azg.jpg The centre bearing needed a small cut to be able to remove it http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psgzbspex3.jpg All cleaned up ready for paint http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pslwn5zzns.jpg All painted ready to be reassembled http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pshrw87off.jpg Test fitted to the truck so that's why centre bearing picture shows bolts not fully fitted http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pscult4elz.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pskskusc8j.jpg I only test fitted it , as I need to paint the auto box . Then fit the new sump pan to it and change the filter . I hope to do this soon , I am just waiting for Rian to return my engine stand so I can put the auto box on the stand . I also need to fit the flexplate and paint the crossmember I made . |
Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Funny, in all my trucks I have never had to deal with the carrier bearing thing. I guess always choosing a SWB truck helps eliminate that.

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
I love the colour of that dark blue truck at wheels day. What paint did you use on the prop? has a great shine to it, is it Por15?

Way to Martin, you are making great progress.
Work always gets in way of doing what we would rather be doing. |

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
I feel like an idiot. After alll these years of wrestling with automatic trannys on the floor, I see your brilliant idea of using the engine stand :dohh: to make it nice and easy to work with.

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Tranny looks great Martin. That's a very helpful warning on the tin too, next time you're feeling thirsty in the garage you'll know not to drink that paint :lol:

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
agree on the chassis and tranny work… top flight Martin.

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Just had Martin over to pick up some bits for Ian Brown.
He also brought along the new dual filament LED lamps he had bought for the back up lights, we in the UK of course have to use Amber lamps for indicators, and they ideally should be separate from our rear lights. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psmvhsxkvf.png Testing them, the amber is bright enough. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...sgrbxve8z.jpeg The eye searingly bright 50 watt white lamps will make great backup lights as both of us reverse into our properties. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...sv1lmlfsj.jpeg Simply put, they fit in the new units I bought. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...sehfaes2w.jpeg Biggest problem will be finding some replacement twin filament sockets to take the new LED lamps. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...sjh1scpzm.jpeg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...s9ctskgns.jpeg Has anyone else done this switch before? |
Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well this weekend I had to clear out my shed . Ready for the garage I purchased a while back . I managed to get most of the panels into the little shed .
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pserjaruoe.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pspuh5fql1.jpg In the process of sorting it all out , I decided to pass on some of the parts one of them being the gas tank from inside the cab . After speaking to Rian he told me Pete one of the guys in the UK needed one so Rian gave him a call and he then rang me to say thanks , and arrange collection . http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pspgwujvak.jpg There are quite a few C10s over in the Uk now and most of the guys are on this board . Best of all we are all helping each other . |
