1971 Chevrolet C50. This truck has 113,071 original miles. New battery, front brake repair, and fresh oil change. Around 36k miles ago truck had a total rebuilt engine, new electronic carburetor, & 5 speed transmission all added at the same time. Also has an electric over hydraulic cheater axle. Box is 55” high and hauls up to 525 bu with dry heavy corn. Wooden floor, steel cargo gates on the rear. Includes a rollover tarp. Over $3000 spent last spring on brakes. This is a good running and clean truck that is ready to use. Make a good truck for Roofer or Tree Removal. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...6-dc9a2bb25abd

Technically not a Craigslist find since I discovered it in a field less than 5min. from my house, but definitely an ultimate find. It was in such good shape, I had to snap it up.
Not 100% sure on the direction I want to go with this, but I'm thinking it will involve shortening the frame and adding an 8' fleetside box. I'd like to ditch the heavy dually rear diff and replace it with a light-medium duty diff with similar style 20" rims and tall tires. |

Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
Have to say that I've never seen a C-60 with just a 4-Speed. They are usually 5-Speeds and "maybe" a 4-Speed with a 2-Speed Rear and many times a 5-Speed with a 2-Speed Rear, as well as 2 Sticks, but never just a single 4. Wonder if it still has the SPID available.
Real nice truck none-the-less. |
Re: The Ulitmate Craigslist find thread
Got it pulled up. Zoomed in on the stick and definitely not a two speed rear. Gotta agree with Bill. But isn’t the 4th gear in that truck the same 5th/ high in a 5sp/2sp rear…. 1:1? Maybe they figured the 427 had enough torque to get it up to that range with less steps? Feel free to educate me.
Looking at the other pics, it looks decent, but if you take the $6k bed off of it, I’m not sure you have a $6k truck under it. |
