Besides the cool factor I was thinking about where you would put stuff if you didn't want to put anything in the finished bed and we know the cabs are tight on space. |
Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
I’m alive, walking and still working, but the truck is still sitting, some things are a struggle at times, back when i moved my truck in the garage I couldn’t lift ether leg up onto the bull bars I installed (4” lift) so i had to use a step stool, honestly I don’t know if i can now ether, I’d hate to think that I’ll have to add a step bar on the bottom of the bull bars... Good news is my neighbor has a extra garage with a paint booth in it and he has offered to let me use it when I’m ready, but i still cant do body work in my cramped garage, there is another problem i haven't figured out, the width of my garage doors, and his booth give maybe 5-6” tops side clearance to the body, i had to remove my mirrors to get it in the garage, not sure how to deal with that cause i like the stock mirrors. I think I'm gonna have to spring for a big shed for the back yard then gut my garage of benches, shelves ect to make working room and store it all my stuff out there.

Hey Mike that sounds like a plan. The best thing I did was get a shop. Next will be a clean place to store the finished truck when not in use.
I received my 3m flex foam but they sent the incorrect applicator gun. So now I have to order the correct one so puts me a week behind I bet. I was able to get the buttons installed for the bedside door poppers. https://youtu.be/MJ66pyQQgfY |

Here is the Mikes billet mirrors I was telling you guys about.
They are pretty cool. I placed them farther forward then normal since I removed the wing windows. Getting closer to having this cab completed and ready for interior. Just waiting on the tinted side windows. |

I cant wait to get this bed painted. I bet I have 100+ hours in the Bed door fabrication. Nice to see all the work come together though.... I am ordering my bed floor kit this week. Smokey Road Rod Shop Looking at the Montana Dark or Saddle color with stainless steel slats and hidden fasteners. Possibly this logo on the vertical portion of the box in the bed facing the tailgate. |
Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Way to go! Frank and Rhonda do a great job. As you know I did their drop-in on my '70 K10 because I didn't want to remove the bed floor. My next build will be the conventional style like you're doing. Can't wait to see it.

We have been working a lot of hours of sanding and sanding and more sanding.
Finally able to get the box on the frame today. Now just need some tailgate adjusting and I think it’s ready for paint. Hopefully by the end of next week. |
Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
This is really coming together. Your box cutouts are amazing.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Looks awesome. Need to change the name of thread though... "68 Fall Guy" or something ;)

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Thanks guys! I agree the name of the truck should change just not good at naming things lol....
Taking ideas!! I ordered a blow up paint booth and it should be here this Thursday so hopefully it works well and I can get paint on the bed this weekend. |

I pulled the front end of the truck apart so I could relocate the alternator and drill and pin the crank for the supercharger!

To relocate the alternator I had to drill a hole in the block were the truck blocks aren’t taped.
I ordered a ictbillet bracket. Also installed the PS pump and supercharger bracket. |
Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
That's looking real good man!

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB
Thank you. I had to re-clock my brand new power master alternator. Which involves tearing it down to remove the stator so the post for the battery cable is in the correct location and not hitting the crossmember. Crazy all the little things that take customizing.

Here is the stator in the freezer that I left over night and the front half in the oven at 200 degrees for 20 minutes.
After it’s hot I will drop the stator in and set the depth and let it all come to room temperature and that will keep them in place. |
