I have never had any work done with him before but I hear a ton of people say he's one of the best in the area. I had this bedside at another painter actually and it sat for a long time. Dad walked in to check on it and he was sitting in a lawn chair, in a circle with a bunch of friends with the bedside on a stand .. basically using it for storage. Boxes, etc. sitting on top of it.

Dad loaded it in the truck and took it to the other painter. I can't say I blame him. Ironically, both painters are named Tony :D I will save the last names to protect the innocent.

Yeah, that gray sealer stuff was crazy. I think it was a cheap roll on bedliner of some sort .. or maybe that stuff you put on a mobile home for heat / sealant type stuff? It was bizarre. .. kinda rubbery almost.

I know the feeling. My hood was at the painter for over 6 months getting jammed and I went in there to pick it up and it had foot prints on it and rings from someone setting a drink on the fresh paint. I made him repaint it and will never take my business there again. Who did you use on the wheel tubs? I remember they looked pretty damn good as well

Thanks for all the compliments fellas :metal:

The wheel tubs, I prepped and final blocked to 500. Same for the front bed panel. We just had someone spray them in a booth because it was a little chilly outside. I only have 870 reducer so anything under about 65 and I can't spray. I still have to paint the rear panel.. its still in primer now.

Just some pictures from the weekend. The brakes are done, the pedal feels great and definitely has some stopping power. I have only driven the truck from the back of the basement to where you see it now .. :) (about 20ft) But, it feels like I had hoped for .. no doubt. We have a NOS intermediate emergency brake cable replacement on the way. That's the last thing and the brakes are 100% complete.

The front wheel backspacing is going to work, I like the way it sits and I'm glad I did 45 series. Nothing against 40s, I just like a little more tire I guess. Does it need another 1/2 out of the front coils?

I hope the back goes down some when I get the bed back on it. If not, I will easily have room for 2" blocks. It has 1" in in it now..

Im probably not going to make it to Goodguys though. I need to stay and finish the bed up. HRPT is coming very soon I just need to stay around the house and get some things done. My wife has given me all next weekend to work on it.

I sold my stepper bed off my BB truck, as soon as this one sells I will be ordering some more stuff for it.

I'd wait and see what the spacing looks like after the bed is on. The added weight might raise the front end.

Looks good!

Yep, great thought. I think it's close now but I might have to tweak it a little once it's driven and the bed is back on, etc. It's sitting at 2.5" spindle and 2" spring now up front, and 6" spring, 1" block and T/A flip mod in the rear (approx 6.25" drop) We'll see how it pans out but I just don't want it to start hitting the tops of the inner fenders.

I gotta get it finished up and get the bugs worked out of it or I won't make the HRPT either. I just need to sacrifice GG this weekend so I can focus on the bed assembly, final stuff for the door panels, etc. If you look really close I have some primer on the lower corners of the cab. It has had some work done in the past many years ago and had some old filler and sand scratches in it. The bed wasn't taken off when it was painted and they apparently could only reach so far back between the bed and the cab. I'm going to fix that before I put the bed back on.

Thanks! Work's been crazy busy so it's kept me off the forums and out of the garage. I've gotten caught up with many customers and am through the trade show season so I will have a little more time now to hop on the forum and check out the builds...and finish mine. Hoping I can see this truck in person again since I saw it right when you were buffing the paint before most of the main mods were done besides the engine/engine bay rehab. You've completely transformed it!!! :chevy:

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Dad and I started the bed today, it looks killer but I need some 2" blocks. :). The back might not be low enough.

I'm having Chinese at the moment.. I'll post some pics when I get home.

Everything is painted etc.. its just a matter of positioning the wood and bolting things back up.

Some pics from today. The bed is definitely not sitting where it's supposed to be we just have the one bed side at this point, the other one is in the booth. It should be ready on Monday or Tuesday. The bed will come about 1" more to the outside, and a bit closer to the cab of course .. but you get the general idea.

The drivers side is just sitting on the wood at this point with a couple bolts in it. It's just a secured starting point to get things lined up and square. We had a couple spare pieces of bed wood so those are there just for place holders.

It's coming on down a little. Don't worry. :ito:

Look ok ? I am stoked fellas.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

^^ oh, .. it hasn't been polished / buffed. That's right out of the gun. The outside of the bed side was not painted. Just FYI. I took that picture for the line of sight down the side of the truck for wheel offset, etc.

I wish the outside of the truck looked like the bed. :D

Great choice of wheels.

Did you have to run a spacer on the back?

CC69Rat 05-19-2013 12:27 PM

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop

Thanks fellas.. The track bar hasn't been adjusted yet and with just one bedside on it, I'm not sure how the rear wheels will sit once its all bolted down.

With 6" bs.. I'm thinking I might need a .25 wafer type spacer (or so) but nbd. Just something I was willing to accept to get these wheels for what I paid for them.

Looking back through the pics I posted when I couldn't decide, the Muroc III etc.. I think it all worked out. In fact now that my step is a fleet I would sell this truck without wheels and tires. I have no problem keeping them. :)
