Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Today started out with a trip into town to collect some dirt to finish up some honeydooz...:uhmk: Upon retuning home I used a defunct trampoline frame to fashion 2 racks… they will be used to store the above mentioned dirt, and eventually be used to support the stepper bed for the remaining bodywork and paint…;)
I then rolled the '65 out into the sun to do some work... I sprayed the color on the dash, colour for my English mates...:mm: https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/272/18...6a97cc2f_c.jpgIMG_4210 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Then it was time for the peel & Seal… https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/440/19...89803824_c.jpgIMG_4217 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/450/19...6daed368_c.jpgIMG_4219 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr JoJo had to check it out... https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/306/19...c3148016_c.jpgIMG_4226 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr After the Peel & Seal, I installed the new Firewall Pad...:metal: Thanks to Bret for his input, the tool for the Pad retaining clips was invaluable...:c2: https://c2.staticflickr.com/4/3936/1...beb42eef_c.jpgIMG_4227 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr https://c4.staticflickr.com/4/3826/1...d18ef326_c.jpgIMG_4231 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Dash, Firewall Pad and the Peel & Seal… The Accelerator Pedal mounted as well...:D https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/519/19...2313a084_c.jpgIMG_4240 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr We'll see what tomorrow brings...:chevy: |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
That is super impressive Don.
Really moving along and getting that glare from the end of the tunnel your eyes. Insulated cab will obviously be a great place to be. |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Looking good Don . I think I will have to get one of those pads . Was it very expensive ? . The funny thing is we all spend time getting the floor looking good ,then cover it with sound deadening ,then cover It with a carpet

Truck and car shop had this pad for $56 and the retainer tool was $8 (Worth the money) Clips are included with the pad… Here's a link, click order online to navigate their catalog… http://www.truckandcarshop.com/6072.html Also be aware, these clips are a pain to install:waah: (at least mine were) The tool seemed to want to stay stuck in the clip after they were pounded in… there were extra clips, thankfully, as I destroyed 3 in the process... |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
That peel and seal looks good!! Dash does to!

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

How heavy is the pad, and more importantly, can it be folded to suitcase size, or rolled up? |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Rian, the pads are fairly light (a couple of kg's max) mine came (from LMC) already rolled up for shipping. You will need the tool for fitting the clips, they are like hollow plastic Christmas trees, a bit of a pain even with the tool!
Don, fantastic progress, it's looking great:metal: |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Thanx Guyz...:mm:
Still gotta source a few parts for the throttle cable to carb connection, but the cable is installed…;) I started painting the door interiors and the door panels… https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/404/19...d243076c_c.jpgIMG_4242 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/346/18...7a3156c9_c.jpgIMG_4243 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr Mocked up the dash...:metal: https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/316/19...788912cf_c.jpgIMG_4248 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/451/18...b41eaf78_c.jpgIMG_4252 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr till next time...:chevy: |

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
looking real good don! you have got a lot done this summer that's for sure!!! how much peel and seal did you use? I bought another two rolls to do the floor, the firewall & back wall I already did awhile back! are you going to use the reflective insulation pad on the floor under the carpet also? I'm wanting my cab floor to be really insulated since my mufflers are right under the cab and exit in front of the rear tires
|
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Quote:
I used just over 2 rolls of the peel & seal… and that was just for the floor and up to just under the firewall pad… with the remainder of the 3rd roll I plan on doing the insides of the door panels… and later, when I relocate the fuel tank, I will do the back wall of the cab…;) Sure hope you get to Clem's in October...:metal: |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
This is looking great Don! That "peel and seal" stuff. Is it the Home depot roof seal stuff? I used that stuff in my doors and just the removable panels being insulated made a huge difference! Nice color choice btw

I used the stuff from Lowes (It's local, Home Depot isn't) Here's what I used… https://farm1.staticflickr.com/446/1...0678bf3a_c.jpgIMG_3484 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Stepped out to the shed this a.m. and used the remainder of the Peel & Seal on the interior of the door panels...;):chevy:

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Looking good Don . Should be a lot quieter in the truck when finished . Another job on my list of things to do

I just did my 64 with the stuff Don. This is the second truck I have done with it and was always happy with the results. A lot quieter and it definitely made the floorboards cooler.

Another piece of the puzzle fitted today.
Martin and I went to the travel agency today to book our car. Helped by Jesus...... It has to be a sign. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psowq0pwfq.jpg So headed to Don's place first, then on to Clem's or his shin dig. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psfxa2r2f6.jpg Time is getting closer. |
