Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Today started out with a trip into town to collect some dirt to finish up some honeydooz...:uhmk: Upon retuning home I used a defunct trampoline frame to fashion 2 racks… they will be used to store the above mentioned dirt, and eventually be used to support the stepper bed for the remaining bodywork and paint…;)
I then rolled the '65 out into the sun to do some work...

I sprayed the color on the dash, colour for my English mates...:mm:

Then it was time for the peel & Seal…

After the Peel & Seal, I installed the new Firewall Pad...:metal:
Thanks to Bret for his input, the tool for the Pad retaining clips was invaluable...:c2:

That is super impressive Don.

Really moving along and getting that glare from the end of the tunnel your eyes.

Insulated cab will obviously be a great place to be.

Looking good Don . I think I will have to get one of those pads . Was it very expensive ? . The funny thing is we all spend time getting the floor looking good ,then cover it with sound deadening ,then cover It with a carpet

Thanks mate...:mm:

Truck and car shop had this pad for $56 and the retainer tool was $8 (Worth the money) Clips are included with the pad… Here's a link, click order online to navigate their catalog… http://www.truckandcarshop.com/6072.html

Also be aware, these clips are a pain to install:waah: (at least mine were) The tool seemed to want to stay stuck in the clip after they were pounded in… there were extra clips, thankfully, as I destroyed 3 in the process...

Guess there may be more parcels headed your way soon Don??

How heavy is the pad, and more importantly, can it be folded to suitcase size, or rolled up?

ibrown50 07-06-2015 11:07 AM

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Rian, the pads are fairly light (a couple of kg's max) mine came (from LMC) already rolled up for shipping. You will need the tool for fitting the clips, they are like hollow plastic Christmas trees, a bit of a pain even with the tool!

Don, fantastic progress, it's looking great:metal:

looking real good don! you have got a lot done this summer that's for sure!!! how much peel and seal did you use? I bought another two rolls to do the floor, the firewall & back wall I already did awhile back! are you going to use the reflective insulation pad on the floor under the carpet also? I'm wanting my cab floor to be really insulated since my mufflers are right under the cab and exit in front of the rear tires

Thanx Chad!:mm:

I used just over 2 rolls of the peel & seal… and that was just for the floor and up to just under the firewall pad… with the remainder of the 3rd roll I plan on doing the insides of the door panels… and later, when I relocate the fuel tank, I will do the back wall of the cab…;)
Sure hope you get to Clem's in October...:metal:

This is looking great Don! That "peel and seal" stuff. Is it the Home depot roof seal stuff? I used that stuff in my doors and just the removable panels being insulated made a huge difference! Nice color choice btw

I used the stuff from Lowes (It's local, Home Depot isn't)

I just did my 64 with the stuff Don. This is the second truck I have done with it and was always happy with the results. A lot quieter and it definitely made the floorboards cooler.

Probably an even more sensible mod than floors, doors do rattle and resonate.

Another piece of the puzzle fitted today.

Martin and I went to the travel agency today to book our car.

Helped by Jesus...... It has to be a sign.

So headed to Don's place first, then on to Clem's or his shin dig.
