Re: 198Plus build
Sure hope you decide to build this truck. Even if its not the correct cab, maybe build it in your dads memory (forgive me if I am wrong, but wasn't this his truck?) I know it's not the same but think what he'd do in your situation.

ronnie-
something you might look into. if your vin plate was swapped to another cab, there should be paint under the vin plate. gm riveted them on after paint. if there is primer, or any other color paint under there besides the original color of your dads truck you might be able to prove that it was not your cab, and at most, if anything put a negative spotlight on the body shop you suspect did the swap, if they did it on yours, they probably do it often, and it would be nice to see them go down, even if you can't get your dads truck back. I would let the authorities know and have one present when you remove the tag, to cover you self.. might be more trouble than it is worth, I guess it dependes on how pissed you are:lol: |
Re: 198Plus build
Go get them Ronnie.

Re: 198Plus build
I've been thinking the same thing. I would go after the suspects.......:hc:

Alan I clamped the a post back to where you cut it, looks like to me the Cross brace of the floor got bent upwards while transporting.....correct me if I'm wrong. http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...DSC_0562-1.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...1/DSC_0567.jpg http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k1...DSC_0566-1.jpg |

Ronnie, you know a consulting fee is very expensive. :haha:
Take the inner rocker piece out and see if the piece I cut off the A post will line up where it is suppose to on the cab support. The gap on the A post cut should be the width of a cut off wheel, about a 1/16". Once that is determined to be correct then put the inner back in and start fitting. |
Re: 198Plus build
Just send me the bill ;)
Alan it is kicked out I was just trying to give you an idea, I will take some pics tomorrow of it with the inner rocker out of the way. Quote:

Looks kind of funny here. I'm not sure what is going on. Maybe it looks funny because the kick panel is missing.

Well?;)

Re: 198Plus build
I think you should cut the floorboard out and flint stone it.

Re: 198Plus build
Ronnie, looking at the pics it's hard to tell from here what is actually going on. Either the door is bowed out in the middle or the rocker is sucked in in the middle. The gap looks about right, but to me there is still some checking to be done. To give a better answer it would be better to see it in person. Basically from the pics your close, but not close enough. If you are unhappy with anything about the fit, now is the time to fix it. ;) Don't rush it because later on you will wish you hadn't. ;) Making some great progress so far.

Re: 198Plus build
Maybe you can lend him your electron microscope. It looks like that door might have been wacked. I'm betting on a warped door. Could'nt be the made in china rockers. Maybe try a made in china door? I think Ruff has been hitting the Skittlles again.

Re: 198Plus build
DAve, those doors came off of my truck. They are in pretty good shape, although they do need some rust repair and some dents fixed. It doesn't take much of a bow to create a bad body line. While repairing the rust in the bottom of the door it can be straightened out.;)

Re: 198Plus build
I don't think it's the door or the rocker, it's the dumbass that's working on it........Lmao
