We dont mean to hate on your ferd Gage, but this is a GM site. If it was old metal then it would be a little diffrent. Last couple of months have just been Ferd for you. We dont mind helping you fix something with it, Just not a ford site.

Now get back to work on C10

ran out of paint but itll work
and if you can keep from it stay away from flux core wire
it sucks

ruffrida2005 01-30-2010 10:31 PM

Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"

Flux core doesn't suck, just your welding skills. So what's that wanna be muffler supposed to do.

jgh64pkup 01-31-2010 12:05 AM

Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"

no i can weld with a mig
the muffler is something i just threw together (im sure you could tell) and is supposed to be like a dynatech splitflow

dammitmitchell 01-31-2010 03:13 AM

Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"

its mroe like a cherry bomb....
or a resionator....
not a muffler... a muffler needs "chambers"
a muffled helps "diffuse" valve poping etc..

Did you remember to reverse the polarity when switching from solid to flux core? It is a world of difference if the polarity is backwards.

Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"

Usually there is a + and - terminal near where the wire spool goes. The wires go in one order for Solid and the other for Flux Core. It should be labeled DCEN (Electrode Negative for Flux Core) and DCEP (Electrode Positive for Solid Wire). One wire goes to your ground and the other to your gun. If you have a manual for your welder it should say in it.

Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"

today i pulled my quadrajunk back off and took it apart
its sitting in methanol now
im going to get some carb cleaner tomorrow and put it back together
it acts like it has a vacuum leak but im not sure i did the wd-40 thing and i didnt see any bubbling
will a bad pcv grommet cause it to have a leak?

Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"

well the truck Chevy looks good, but i thought this was a chevy site? most of this thread is about your ford no one wants to be on a chevy forum and read about a ford, and you worry way to much bout the mufflers and carbs why dont you just get a carb like the one you had that broke, save your and buy the mufflers instead of waisting time tubeing and welding gas makin your own and then changeing your mind an hour later

jgh64pkup 02-02-2010 07:46 PM

Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"

im still not sure the direction i want to take this yet
so im just toying around with it
how am i supposed to save money without a job??
im getting all the tubing and stuff for free
