how many hours from the time you picked up your truck to present do you estimate that went into building your truck. and let me add they were hours well spent. topping this build is going to be tough. thanks for sharing it and the build.

That's gotta be some kind of milestone here! What kinda #'s are you going to be making (H.P.wise) after the addition of these parts? What are your goals or plans for the truck when the parts are on(now that you've showed it and got a few trophies under your belt!)? I'd like to show mine for a summer season of shows, but then its going to be used. Not for a work truck, but for a commuter/cruiser. I've come to realize these projects take on a life or direction of thier own as you begin the build. Thanks for setting the standard for the rest of us!

I hope to have between 340 to 360 hp. When I bought my motor it was advertized at 330 hp. Well It's not even close to that. I would be lucky if it were 250 hp, that's why I'm changing everything. You can't have a cool looking truck that's slow, right?:o. As for any future plans, I would like to install a four link. I should have went that route in the first place. I plan on doing a few out of town show such as Goodguy, Paso & Brothers.

Have you put the truck on a dyno. I'm sure you know the difference between BHP and hp. You can loose more ponies with an auto trans also(another reason I plan on a T-5 swap for my IROC). Will the 4 link give you better handling? I don't know much about suspension. I look FWD to seeing you in Paso. Daniel u

4-Links give you a much smoother ride. Not to mention better traction when stomping on the gas. Plus they look pretty sweet!

I'm looking for a smoother ride. With the leaf springs I'm using and the "air helper" bags to drive around at ride height makes it a stiff ride. With a four link I can use bags only.

Cal, Nice work.. Nice touch with the update on the engine parts. Im about 85% with my '56. I need to post all my pics so i can share. I have owned my truck for 20 years but have worked off and on on making it a restorod for about 6 years. I envy your 2 1/2 year project completion.

Okay CAL 58 GMC, this is getting ridiculous. As nice as your truck is and you can’t leave it alone. You have a really nice truck there Cal, and its only going be nicer (if that’s possible) with your changes. Did I tell you I went with a 4 link also and wasted all that money on leaf springs. Well I guess its all in a build right?

You better be careful cal, anymore power from that motor and you are going to need a stronger tranny than a 700r4 :P

think it should hold up as long as the tv cable is linked propperly , if not theres the bullitproof 4L80E ....... problem with that one : you need a $1200,- compushift to run it .....casching

Hey Cal have you thought about removing a leaf and rely more on the bag. If the ride is too stiff maybe the bags are not at their optimum height for a good ride. The mounts may need to be moved to run the bag at a shorter height.
