Bob, I hope you plan a demo drive for me when I come out there Wednesday. ;) I do want a ride, really. Well, maybe that is a bad idea. Then I will really hate how slow my truck is.

Hey, I got the pedal today. Looks good...Thanks.

Cheers,

Ed

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

Good deal Ed! I think I had used the bottom left hole on the firewall for the bottom hole of the pedal.

Dennis - I might have to give you a rain check on that ride. My wife doesn't get off work tomorrow night until 9:30, and I can't leave the kiddos at home alone. They would probably try to follow us on their ATV's!

So that means a nasty long smokey driveby ahahah !!! ??

So that is a digital (speedo) instrument cluster ? Like a 91 burb unit ?

glock35ipsc 10-06-2009 06:10 PM

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

I'm not a tear my stuff up kinda guy, so not too likely. :D I did all that when I was younger. Besides, I already posted my video!

Not digital, just electric. The speedo just uses an electrical signal from the PCM, or from the VSS in the original application, which was a 91 Blazer.

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

Fair enough LOL I will promise you some good burnout vids then ahahaha :metal: When blue is done.

Ahh shoot, electric, not digital. LOL But you got what I was getting at

I scored one off ebay awhile ago.

I could get sick watching my current spedometer !! :smoke:

That will be gone :chevy:

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

Score!!!!! I just bought a like-new sport rear bumper with brackets and license plate bucket for $160 to my door from ebay.

My coworker, who picked up mega cherry 79 K10 short bed over the weekend that had no rear bumper, promptly paid me $160 for my step bumper!

Win-win!

wow, a free sport bumper, damn nice job Bob.

The truck sounds and pulls well, it's made my mind up, 5.3/5 speed it is.

Can you post some pics of the mount brackets?

I need to fab up some to fit the Suburban rear bumper on my K20 that will clear my hitch and 32" spare tire and could use some inspiration.

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

For the step or the sport? I'm going to wait to take mine off until the sport bumper gets here, but I can take pics then.

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

OK, I just picked up a partial electric speedo cluster. It is just missing the temp and oil gauges. I am going to swap the speedo for the one I have in the truck now, then will probably sell this cluster.

The speedo I have in there now works, including the odometer, but the trip odometer does not work. So I'll probably sell this one with my speedo, a gas gauge, volt gauge, the lens and the black piece that goes behind the lens for about $35. If anyone is interested, let me know.

I'd say so! Dang. Good job on that one! Fred is gonna be awesome very soon. So much for the "slow and easy" approach, oh wait.....that was gone a week after you got it out here!

Mmmm, yeah, what happened there?!?

Don't let me forget to have you look at that door jamb I was asking you about, with the funky looking seam sealer.

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred"

I guess I should make a new goals list! Although I still need a windshield.....

3 months is short term though, right?

Short term plans are:

* Finish waxing it. **DONE**

* Lower the front and rear a little, maybe two inches all around. The front sits a little higher than the rear right now, by about 3/4". So I'll try to get the front down just a touch lower than the rear. **DONE**

* O2 sensor. I need to add a heated O2 sensor. **DONE**

* Stereo! I must have my tunes! I have my trusty Alpine deck, Rockford Fosgate amp, RF component speakers, and RF 12" sub. I have the faceplate for the deck, now I just need to get a different box for the sub. **DONE**

* Windshield. This one has some chips and a good munch on the lower left side.

* Power steering gear. Wynne said this one leaks, so I pulled the one off the 91 Suburban to swap out. **DONE, NEW ONE**

* Rebuild the door hinges. The drivers door shuts hard, the passenger is a little easier. Wynne included rebuild kits for those. :metal: **DONE**

* Sport bumper for the rear. **DONE**

* Rear tires. Drivers side is about gone, and the passenger will be great as a spare. **DONE**

* Replace the seat cover. **DONE, "NEW" SEAT**

* Exhaust. The exhaust dumps on the back side of the rear end right now. I'm going to run it from there straight out the back with a pair of 3.5" x 18" tips. It sounds good as-is, but I really like those big tips! :metal: **DONE**

That's mostly all for now. Later on I'll do the Suburban grill swap (**DONE**), fix the rust, swap in a TH700R4/3.42 combo (**DONE**), redo the interior, then paint it and replace all the moulding and trim with new stuff. **MAJOR REVISION TO THIS, KEEP READING!**

:haha: Now, that made me laugh! I will do my best to remember & look at your door jamb tonight. And I need to talk to you about my "new" motor. :D

I can't wait for the revision, and future changes. Of course with Bob when I say future I mean like next week.
