Looked at the 52, passed. Figured I would put another G in my 52 instead. It was a long bed with a repaint.

I've been looking for a early to mid 60's chevy truck. Want to start another project, I think Think this one will be a frame off. Didn't do that with the 57 but it really didn't need it.

Hello, remember me?
I've been mudding & block sanding on my cab. Found some dents in the roof, and not because of welding the drip rails. :uhmk:

I'm thinking of painting my 65 Chevy C-10 truck like this. It will be red with satin black on top onto the center of the hood and the top rails of the bed. There will be a silver pin stripe to separate the colors. The interior will be red also. Plus a possible logo on the doors, but smaller than this. What do ya think?

Black on Red will look very sharp!
Especially if it is a deeper red than cherry or fire engine.

Are you talking just a straight line pin stripe to seperate them, or something more stylized? I could envision thorns at body seams, and french curves at things like those kickazz door handles you put in...

So I played with the art program a bit today, your color scheme idea really got the artsy side of my brain going.
Lets see if I can post this for you...

Thanks, I like it. I wonder how it would look with black on the bottom? The red strip would go right into the dash then.....hummmmm??

Welcome back Dennis!! Did you have fun camping?

Strodder 11-26-2011 11:09 PM

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

Yeah, we had fun. Got dirty. There was 12 Trailers, and Motor Homes that showed up by Friday. For thanksgiving dinner there was about 16 people that all brought different dishes.

We almost didn't go. Our generator wouldn't start. Since we were dry camping with no hook ups we really needed the generator. We haven't started it in almost a year. All the camping we did this past year was full hook ups. The Generator turned out to be a bad carburetor from sitting so long. They aren't rebuildable. And while I was trying to fix the running problem, the starter on the generator stopped working altogether. I gave up and brought it to the RV Repair Shop down the block. They said it was a bad starter. When they pulled out the generator to replace the starter they found that the main starter cable from the solenoid fell off. You can't see it until you take the generator out. Any way they were honest and reconnected the cable, and sold me a good used carburetor. Only $225 for everything, and I was down the road in 2.5 hours.
Just got back home. We had great weather and a bunch of fun. We had a lot to be thankful for on this Thanksgiving. I hope you all had a good one too.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

just run the generator once every two months on a little fresh petrol untill the tank is dry again that should keep it in running order

Strodder 11-27-2011 11:30 AM

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

That's what I've been told. We never had a problem with our other trailer that had a Generac. This is a Onan Generator, and they said that carb plugs up easer than the Generac. The carb is only $160, that's why they call it a throw away carb. Everybody I talked to say the same thing. I tried, and they're right. :uhmk:

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

Glad you liked the art work... it was a slow day at work.
That was my first time messing around with MS Paint. I liked the way yours turned out so good, I started one on my rig.
Seems no one wants to have surgery over the holidays, go figure....

We have a generator on our land from before we had the power lines ran. I just ran it dry with a little of the Stabilize in it, and never have a problem.
I also used that Stabilize when we stored our Pontiacs for the 3 years we were in Hawaii, came back with an air pump for the tires and a fresh battery, and fresh gas and they all started right up.

Good to hear you had a fun time camping, and it was a good Thanksgiving all around!!
