WOW, very nice Junior53. Great bunch of accessories too !! Is that Forester Green??
|
Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Junior,
That looks great. What are you running for a suspension? It looks lower than stock. What is that awesome steering wheel out of? And where did you score that cover for the tread of the spare tire? |
Re: How about some pics of 47-59

Should I paint it or drive it?
|
Re: How about some pics of 47-59
If it steers, brakes & moves forward I'd drive the sh@t out of it!! Paint can always come later.

Drive it like you stole it!! lol

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
You've come this far and its looking nice and straight. I say lay some paint on it. Winter is close so you will have a few months to do all the prep work and get the color on there before the nice driving season comes. If you are willing to do the work don't put it off.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
I'm just trying to solve all the problems and make everything fit so I don't have to make too many changes.
Does anyone know where to get side mirrors like the ones in the old Lokar add on the black 57? I've seen them on other trucks, like the one of Roger Shelines 58 apache in custom classic trucks. I want something big enough that I can see in traffic without too much trouble. |

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Sqrints, do you have or know anything about the 47 "Lumber Co" truck?
I have many questions I would like to ask him, as we have pulled the trigger on that "sister truck".....same color and patina with a Ls 5.3 |

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
My goals for the winter. 1. Figure out who owns this truck before it becomes one with the trees. 2. Talk the owner out of it for cheap. 3. Drag it home since it's literally ONE mile down at the other end of my road!!.. Oh yeah and 4. Get my Apache on the road or close to it, haha!

Been building a newer chevy stepside so i havent scanned the older trucks like the square bodies wow, you guys have some good stuff here im working in Boston in south E came across this survivor truck not sure the year seems out of place in a sea of newer suvs/commuter cars in the lot its in. very cool truck.also on the same road most mornings theres a guy with a 68 or 69 orange convertible RT coronet? super Bee? the guy drives it most every day soo clean i cant believe its his daily driver. sweet car. cool to hear that big block rumble thru the city in the morning early before all the traffic/pedestrians/chaos of the day begins. i love America.

My next project...a 53 Suburban.
I will probably start a build thread on it. Thanks Marc |
Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Hey Marc ... if it turns out 1/2 as well as the green machine you'll have 1 trick ride. Or two in this case!
Good luck. Nice start. |

Actually this Suburban will be totally different from my 48 truck. This 53 will be everything that my 48 isn't. Shorter build, less money, more of a comfortable (LOW) family hauler. Marc |
Re: How about some pics of 47-59
jpnh - it's a '54. and it looks amazing!! Hub caps alone you'd be VERY lucky to find, especially for a 3/4 ton. Cool pics..

It came from Oregon, but spent the last 15-20 yrs in MI. Quite a few of those years outside. The township started fining the PO's since it was non-operational and that is when they moved it inside. I looked a while before I bought this one, and I saw a lot of junk go for quite a bit more than what I spent. Another plus was that this has all (3) rows of stock seats which are hard to find and expensive to buy when you do. Yes, I think it is a good foundation. Thanks for your interest. Marc |
