Re: My Facetruck thread.
at $500+/sqft, storage for a fake Christmas tree doesn't always rate..
that and high percentage of apartment dwellers that just don't have storage space at all.. I've known folks that don't even keep all their decorations year to year.. plus, there's a little more vanity out here than most places ;) |

Re: My Facetruck thread.
So last weekend we got a tree and set it up. Went with my little guy (grandson) and his mom to a tree farm in the area. It was once huge. I hear real trees are becoming more desirable, but they say this place does 1,000 trees and in the peak years, I think the '60s- '70s, they did 5,000. It's a 1700s farm, old stone house standing proud. The owner is getting older and the fields are pretty played out. But that's why he only charges $25 for any tree. Took a lot of looking, but we found one just right. I think we may be going to the old field. The place is huge with a few different fields

I was going to clip some weeds this afternoon. I hooked the Bush Hog to the tractor, went a couple hundred yards and had a flat. I see that as an omen to stay in my recliner the rest of the day.

No sense getting all out of shape over a :cuss: flat tractor tire. They are easier to deal with once you let them marinade |
Re: My Facetruck thread.
Hey other Larry, bet that tire was flat on just one side.:uhmk:
|
Re: My Facetruck thread.
It's marinating in the back of the Longhorn now. The problem is, the flat side was on the bottom, and that's where I needed the round part most. I have a shop that specializes in fixing the flat side.
|
Re: My Facetruck thread.
Why not just rotate it to the round side ?
|
Re: My Facetruck thread.
After all, it's only flat on one side. ;)

Re: My Facetruck thread.
I hate changing tires. Thanks for the lead on the new shop in town.

Two good ol' boys were sitting around talking one afternoon over
a cold beer. After a while the 1st guy says to the 2nd, "If'n I was to sneak over to your trailer Saturday & make love to your wife while you was off huntin' and she got pregnant and had a baby, would that make us kin?" The 2nd guy, after thinking real hard about the question says, "Well, I don't know about kin, but it would make us even!" |

The bed is too short to be one of ours. I did pick one up real similar to that a year or so ago just east of you, at Mechanicsburg, OH. I stopped by Advanced Design's place on that trip. If I get back up that way I'll holler.
I went west the last time and couldn't find a soul to bother. I came back down across Wyoming and Colorado and saw a bunch of untouched tin. Here are some pictures of that trip. |
Re: My Facetruck thread.
My dad loved farming, mostly cattle. We had cattle when I was young, but cattle didn't fit me very well. Every time I planned something, a cow got sick. I thought my dad was going to disown me when I told him I was going to get out of the cattle business.
It was a great day that I sold out. I actually got enough money out of them to pay the loan off. |
Re: My Facetruck thread.
You sound like my Brother N Law ,he has about 150 head ,all on free land ,part of which is mine ,but he dont make No money on cows . Its his only means of income ,drives new trucks ,has no debt but makes no money on cows . I wonder if he just prints his own .

Re: My Facetruck thread.
my family enjoyed raising cattle and freezers packed with great beef!
fun animals to watch, almost as entertaining as chickens  farming was tough and frequently in the red but cattle always seemed to make make a profit with ~100 head +/- neighbors lease our land to run cattle nowadays but I hope to have a small herd when I retire back home.. kids watching cattle this past summer :) https://dl.dropbox.com/s/lujzvb0yrf9..._1579.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/ujzroipxua4..._1769.jpg?dl=0 repurposed stock tank - red neck swimming pool :metal: https://dl.dropbox.com/s/q51zoe43eyw..._1200.jpg?dl=0 fed cattle out of this barn up through the 80's.. dad and I lofted 2000 bales one cutting.. https://dl.dropbox.com/s/4h7aycxunpm...12738.jpg?dl=0 dad later had this built next to the old corral.. external feeders on both sides.. https://dl.dropbox.com/s/8gbisnt72d7...15330.jpg?dl=0 |

No... no... If he straight up denied it that would mean we hit the nail square on the head. He's in the wrong state for that. That's why you'll see those red Chevys with Davis Phamaseutickles on the door. They're 50 state legal!
