Do you have a build up on your motor or did I miss it. I am redoing my 65 ickup. It has had a stock 292 and 5 speed in it for about 20 years and want to update the motor. What did you use for pistons and a cam?

Thanks

Thanks. My head is the same as yours but didnt shave anything off it. What compression were the pistons? Do you know what final compression ratio is? Have you put any miles on the motor yet? Happy with it?

Well the total compression should be around 9:4:1 - 10:0:1. Not entirely sure. Pistons themselves would have been good for around 9:0:1. No miles on the motor.....truck ain't close enough to being back together for that. haha Very happy with it thus far. I know of many that have done similar builds to this and have had great success so I am fully confident. :chevy:

Re: Project two tone.

Hi guys! Well it has been awhile since the truck has been touched. Weather took a turn for the worst and work was super slow.

Spring is around the corner and the weather should be getting better soon which means....Painting time! :metal:

So plans are to fire up and break in the 292 sometime within the next two months. Shooting for May. Already getting the ball rolling. Got a list of the last needed parts to get her running and it's already getting smaller. :bann: Super excited about getting that motor running.

This weekend I will be doing some small work on the truck. Today I picked up a new starter, hose fittings, fan belt, thermostat, and some other misc stuff. Parts are on the way from Classic Parts and should be here sometime this coming week. Also with the help of my dad I'll be setting the cab right side up on the stand to start working on the floor this weekend so I am excited about that! Hope to have the entire cab in primer late spring early summer and then onto painting. :metal:

Lot's to do folks! Until next time! :chevy:

Hey guys! Few small updates to get the week started. :mm:

Since I am planning on getting this engine going soon I've been working on getting it finished so it can be ran. Lotta small stuff still needed to be done.

Fan belt I had was too long so I got a shorter one and that takes care of That. lol See pic.

Also got my new starter mounted up. Still debating on painting it black.....Thoughts?????

Got some gasket maker and made some gaskets for the adapter plate and then purchased a 1/2 inch thick gasket for the carb mount. I'll show the reason for all that later this week. Had to raise the carb up a little.

Anyhow....also got some brass 90's for the water heating jacket on the intake manifold so I can rout the water hoses better.

Oh yeah, siliconed the thermo stat housing in place so that is on permanent.

Well all this and not much was done, but it beats nothing at all. lol Should have some better updates this weekend as parts will be coming in and I'll be trying to spend most of the day working on the truck. Weather has been cold and nasty as well so time to get the wood stove fired up!

Later guys! :chevy:

Afternoon Gents!

Through out the past week I have been tinkering with the 66. Weather has been bad so cab work has not happened, but parts have been coming in for the 66. :metal:

Got my hei dizzy in and plug wires cut to size.

Found this braided hose sleeving that I could not pass up so I have been braiding all the hoses. Not quite as good as the real thing.....but looks good none the less.

Also got my lokar throttle cable mount installed. :chevy:

Waiting on the lower rad hose which should be in tomorrow. Then I'll sleeve it up and install it.

Not much left to do to get this motor running. :bann:

Also got the cab set upright again to start working on the floors. Waiting on decent weather now.

All for now gents! :chevy::gmc2:

Your rolling stock looks really good TJ. I remember when I was working on my cab and you kept saying someday. Know you are there.
