I've been looking for an IH swb 1110 (1/2 ton, 4wd) for several years since meeting a buddy that's an IH nut who has one. His is green and white two tone and I was in love at first site. SWB 4x4 are hard to find but found one a few weeks back and it was delivered last Friday. Runs good, needs a lot of little things that I'll get to over the next several years. Plan is to preserve it...probably lift about 2" and add 33's on period correct rims. The rims on it are factory but slots or turbines will look better.

Nice looking truck.

You get the nicest 4wds. You have a great gathering. I've always liked those late IHs amd a short bed is really rare.

That’s an awesome score. Those internationals are really cool. I see them around here once in a while. I actually see more pickups than scouts which seems kinda weird to me. I always thought the scouts were more popular.

Thanks guys. I finally got a chance to actually look it over for more than 5 minutes tonight. It has some rust along the tops of both rockers and into the floor that I'll need to fix but besides that it's a really dry (rust free) truck. As little rust as possible and unmolested is what I look for and I'm happy with this one.

Lots of weird things I've never seen on other makes so it's fun seeing how tractor engineers designed trucks.

Corn binder . IH didn't skimp, that's for sure. Rust has been a deterrent for me with these trucks. You found a good one. I can't recall if I showed this '67 truck a friend was working on for a regular classic car customer. He brought it to our local ATHS chapter summer picnic last year. Later on I got to see him tooling down I-70 in it on his way to return it to the Eastern Shore

IH called their crew cabs Travelettes which I always thought was a funny name. That one looks to be in incredible shape. Very nice.

I'm a diehard GM guy but I find it very interesting to see how other companies designed/engineered their trucks when compared to GM and that's what draws me to these "off brands". Overall, GM had a superior product, but there are little things with other brands I sometimes feel is better then how GM did it. Ford rockers are open at the bottom, had much better designed structural inner fenders, better door latches, and had a very nice riding coil spring/trailing arm front suspension (4x4). IH used beefy door hinges that never wear out. But then you look at the electrical system in a Dodge truck from the same era for example and are reminded of how well GM did a lot of things.

That's an awesome truck and love the correct Belleview winch. Curious if the Warn bumper is IH specific or a later style trimmed back?? Either way it looks really good and fits the truck perfect.

That's a really nice one

I think I showed this already, but since we were talking swb IH 4wds I wanted to put this fine example up. Rare trucks

The Dodge showed up Sunday and made the 3 mile drove home from the truck stop where I met the auto transporter. It's a 318 with a Carter two barrel and it was running pretty poorly. I've made that drive several times with long distance purchases and this drive was definitely one of the ones I was unsure if I would make it. But I made it so happy about that.

This truck is very original with a claimed 60K on it which seams believable. Rather than driving it apparently spent most of it's time sitting in a high altitude sun which destroyed the paint. It's very rust free and straight so it might be a repaint candidate which usually isn't my style but the truck may deserve it as the original paint is just too far gone.

As far as options, it's a '79 with manual windows and no AC so compared to a Chevy of the era it's pretty spartan. I'm not in love with the quad headlight grill so I may think about swapping to a '78 single round headlight grill but probably won't unless the quad headlights really start to bug me, or I find all of the parts I need a reasonable distance from home. To swap to the single round headlight grill includes a core support and lower filler panel swap so it's pretty involved. Might as well add the "birdbath" hood from the earlier years while I'm at it also.

Hopefully I'll have time to tinker with the 318 in the coming week to see if I can get it to run right. The PO said it ran well and I saw a video of it prior to purchasing so I'm wondering if it's the ~2,000 ft elevation drop between where it's from and here or something else. Seems like carburetion is the issue.

Overall, I'm very happy with it. It's different!

I like the old original paint thing, too, but there is a point where a paint job is called for. This truck is an "easy restoration". That's what I call such survivors. They go either way, easy restoration or "run and repair as you go".

I always seem to like the earlier version of a design. So, the '72 style grille is my favorite. The quad lights don't bother me any more than single light in that grille style. It is what it is and that isn't awful

Bumping this thread to the top with another off brand I purchased about a month ago. Saw it for sale early in the summer and kept seeing it hadn't sold so finally broke down after I did a search across the US to see how many club cab, swb, 4x4's were out there for sale (not many). I'll get it shipped here after the salt is gone so will give a report in 3-4 months (sigh).

Another Dodge is in the process of being sold to make room. Get too many old Dodges and you'll never leave the garage.

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes

I'm kinda laughing because the response here to my recent Dodge purchases is the same as my family's response....you're selling the nice shiny one and buying that??

I admit I also thought Dodges were ugly back in the day but they've grown on me for some reason and it's also easier to find original ones cheap than GM or Ford trucks anymore. I dig seeing how other brands designed things also so that adds to the intrigue. Electrical is definitely the weak spot on Dodges in my experience so far.

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes

I liked the first of that Dodge body style. I'm not sure how far into them, but beginning in '72 that was a good looking truck. I think, because I had a '69 Power Wagon at the time, it was once they started calling them Power Rams. Pissed me off and made me gag

I didn't see your post till today. I'm slackin'
