Are they doing something different like qualifying for something happening on Saturday? |
Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
They just have Test and Tune plus a Gamblers Race listed. I'm just needing to try something different on the starting line.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Well that Idea didn't work. It was good to hang out with Scott for a little while. At least after I changed back to my more normal setup the truck went two 7.59's @ 121mph in the 1/8th. Good to see you Scott

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Happy 4th of July everyone. I wish I was racing somewhere instead of sitting in the house. But then I I don't ! It's hot as hell outside in Texas.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
After feeling like I was going to croak from the heat in Tulsa. I decided it was time to fix my power windows. My passenger side window hasn't worked in a few years and I have always had to assist my drivers side window into the top of the track by hand. That was due to the regulators not being mirror images of each other and the drivers side is at the wrong angle. I was able to find what I needed and got all my parts Thursday. I started on the passenger side yesterday and though I would get it knocked out pretty quick. Well I got a little done and had enough for the day. It's kinda hard to just go back and duplicate something the built 15 years ago. It wont take long to finish the passenger side. the drivers side is going to be a little more complicated but I'll figure it out. Photobucket has changed their site up so it will be easier they claim. I'm trying to post pics.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
On another note I stumbled upon pictures of a truck that has a lot in common with my vision for my C-50. The bed in particular from the rounded corners on the front to the dove style wooden bed. I plan on reusing the oak out of my grain bed and painting it. I also want the rear track to be narrower even if means having to narrow an AAM or Dana to make it work. I'm not going to critique this guys truck though it's too cool.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Man..that's a slick 50...like that bed..I had given thought to doing a 1950s AD 6400 truck and always thought a rounded corner bed would "fit" the trucks style..but as long as my C30 holds out ,I'm covered for a towing truck ..
Are those power window actuators custom? Or is that a factory style setup.. I'm thinking power windows for my future project.. |

that autoloc system looks nice.. not cheap.. but it looks like a good setup..

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Well I got the passenger side working but it's not perfect. I had to grind on the top of the window some to get it close to flush with the door. It goes up and down correctly but needs some tweaking. It sounds like it's in a bind.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Now onto the drivers side. This is what I had to start with. This side has to be totally reengineered. The motor pointing the opposite direction will allow me to get the window to seat correctly in the top of the window channel.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
I trimmed the regulator as needed then started measuring for placement. There is quite a bit of difference from the old one to the new. After an hour of contemplating the different options I just bolted it to the door and started moving it around. After two or three hours of fighting it I had to walk away from it. If I was younger I may have been throwing tools. The angles will drive you crazy. I'll work on it some more today. What I thought was going to be a weekend project will probably take me the rest of the week before I'm happy with it. But if it last another 15 years I'll be 71 by then Lol.

Yeah, I spent some spare time last night at work looking at them ..
When I googled it, the one that came up was the one touch flat glass kit..$500 https://www.autoloc.com/catalog/Powe...rank-Switches- Last night I was seeing all the options, and was curious which kit you were using.. I'm kinda wondering about doing the IH now..the stock window regs arnt the greatest thing |

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Well it's official I can't drive for Sh*t. I made it through first round in Topeka only to Redlight by .004 in the second round. Then for some stupid reason I just flinched bad in the first round of the second race. It was so bad I didn't even stop to get the timeslip. I gained 10 points in the end.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
I haven't logged in for awhile. No updates really. I have made the decision to hang it up for the year. I haven't even unloaded the truck since Topeka. I had Slick Rick order me some new valves. I'm hoping they wont take too long to get here as mine are worn out. We are going to a DLC coated titanium valve. He says they will last a long time. I always thought the seats went away on the valve job. I had it backwards. Rick told me the berylium copper seats eat away the margin of the valve. With a coated valve it will keep the valve job in check for seasons instead of 60 or 70 passes. I was going to enter Super Comp at the Fall Nationals just for fun but I waited too long and it filled up. Maybe it wasn't a good idea anyway.Lol
