Glad you had a good Turkey Day. They told me to never use a gas stabilizer. :haha: so they can sell more carburetors. :uhmk:

If you look at my Tempest link you will see all 4 of the Ponitacs we had stored for those 3 years, a 66 a 69 and a pair of 72s. The 69 was the only one that didnt run, so all the other 3 got the Stabilizer and that was from May 06 until we got them down to Louisiana in Oct 09....

Each one was stored individually in a 10x25 unit in Southern Oklahoma. Dont know if that would have any factor to it or not, but never had a problem them.

We are down to only one 72 and the 66 now...

Went to the Mooneyes Christmas Show today. So many 60-66 Chevy trucks were there. I only took a few compared to how many were there. Lots of ones not worthy of a picture.

Enjoy:

They had drag racing there also. It is held at Irwindale Race Way. It should be a 2 day event. I did have great time. :metal:

There seems to be more old school builds over on the west coast. I been going to the HUGE charlotte speedway auto show thats suppose to be the biggest show on the east coast for the last 15 years and I never see rides like that here in NC. seems to be more muscle cars and factory builds here in NC.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

Yeah the "Rat Rod" and "Old School" is what this show is all about. NO BILLET. These are affordable hot rods. :metal:

Not much going on with the 65, but I just picked up a 50 Stude Truck for a friend. I'll be doing some work on it later on. I offered to swap his 17" Torque Thrust's with my Cragers. He's thinking about it, but I doubt it will happen. :waah:

Lots of small repairs to the body. The Chevy bed needs a lot of attention. I also need to finish up an unfinished frame shortening.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

I love the lines on those old Studes and the Chevy bed looks right at home on it.

I should be post 1667 on this thread at this point, watching it from the beginning.
More posts on everything else but your build. LOL
Apart from that, it's probably the most entertaining thread I follow.
My neighbor is a Studebaker nut. Has 2 right now, a 52 2 door and a 53 4 door. I'll bet he would jump in his car hauler today if the Studebaker truck was for sale.
Have a Great Holiday Season and it sure would be nice to see that lil 65 from time to time here. :)

Thanks Chris. I really try to post more progress on the truck, but sometimes there just isn't enough of it to post. Glad you enjoy my entertaining thread. I promise I'll get back on track this next year. Yeah I know I said that before. :haha:

Looks like a done one though. :metal: Looks like we have the same Chevy truck.

Before the Studebaker I brought home a 40 Ford Woodie Deluxe for a friend, that I'll do a frame off restoration on.

By the way, any advise on what to use to keep my frame from rusting?
:smoke:
The guy that originally sand blasted it said he used the best stuff available (primer sealer) and it sits rusting only 20 feet from me. It will be re-blasted in the next or so so I will be sealing and painting myself.:uhmk:
:ito:
I need to start getting this thing back together asap. The only weld work left on it is to graft in the power steering part of a 71 frame horn. The Alston Chassis works rear portion is done.

I've used both, and I like KBS much better.
This is the KBS that I sprayed on. It can be done with a brush also.

I prefer to spray. (cleaner)
I am going to sand blast after I graft the frame notch section for the power steering box, that is unless I can find a bolt on rack and pinion for the 63 frame. If I find that I will go that direction.

Thanks Dennis,
I ordered some today.
Will I be thinning this like paint or ?
I hate getting crap on my hands and spraying is my preferred method of application.

Use it straight out of the can. It goes a long way. Just read the directions.
