Guys, out of great respect for those that are investing their money, time and effort to be here and to honor my wife, please know my family, friends and I are doing all we can to make sure we have a fun, safe, productive and really enjoyable event. Some of the hospice folks will be here too. Now if the weather will cooperate... |

hahaha holy shoot. I have no idea why this struck me as funny, probably because I have MADE three trips for the same parts in the past :lol: I have been thinking about it the wrong way! why fight? make one trip and buy three times as much, no matter how you slice it, its more efficient! |
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
It’s going to be an awesome event, too bad I can’t be there...
It’s like living on an island  I have worked on Curacao for several years, there did we have the same problems with parts, everything had to flown in or make it yourself if possible. But you tackled these problems :metal: I’m in for a livestream, I always watch Dragracing on livestream, works perfect!! You can do a livestream on FB or YouTube maybe? If you do, please let me know? Merry Christmas everybody!! |

Roughing in the LS wires and mounting components under the seat. Using the stripped down original harness and modifying to fit rather than buying a new one due to the placement of the PCM, TAC module and harness fuse box here. |
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
No problem at all Doug, but it would have been nice ;-)
Wish I could be there with you and meet all of you, but as always, money is in the way... I know you have a good time, I see the pics afterwards and have a laugh with you!! Merry Christmas!! |
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Doug...if you keep up this pace there won't be anything left to do at the Jan 19 wire/fire except give people joy rides in the burb..

And I might have to rethink the line connection to the caliper. It looks like this will put too much stress on the aluminum. |

Wilwood flex line kit includes a 3/8” NPT 90 degree for the caliper and a straight connection on the flex line. Found a pic of one installed.
Was trying to be clever and stay away from the 90 as I couldn’t be sure where it would be pointing when tightened. |
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Yep...I just looked it up on wilwood and it shows the NPT 90 for the caliper..that's suprising...I woulda thought wilwood would use the best of the best...but if that's what they use then it must be ok...
Is that 3/8npt?...it shows to be 1/8npt... |

And never having worked with Wilwood calipers before, the NPT is a new one on me. That is probably why they have this sticker over the port. So, I will get the 90’s and straight fitting on the end of the line. That will reduce the torquing stress on the caliper body and have a reduce chance of road debris impact damage. |
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
I'm like you..trying to clock a npt fitting could be tricky to get it in the right spot..and it be tight or not over torqued....

While checking fitment I determined the line nuts are too small to fit the chassis tab pass through....and I also learned why a component “kit” is so expensive. You need a forensic part number accountant to get the right pieces.:waah: |

Thanks guys, it will be epic! :) I know it is too far for Kees. Hopefully Greg and Jim can make it.
In addition to good food and great people we now have planned: Torch, MIG and TIG welding, take turns practicing with some talented folks. Brake plumbing and trying out various benders and flaring tools on nickel copper, steel and stainless steel. Trying out push lock hose fittings on the Cool Tools press and a home made press. Of course finishing the wiring, running the fuel lines and starting the LS, getting the Wilwood brakes and lines installed. Maybe air ride stuff too. We will all learn from each other. No ego’s here...! |

A few posts ago we were kicking around the connection to the brake caliper. While I have concerns about where the NPT 90 will point once tightened, this most likely be a better way to go. |

And we will have options...just in case we need to plumb a 32 wheeled vehicle. :)
I’ve never used the nickel copper so we have that, plus steel and stainless steel 3/16 tube to play with for comparison purposes. |

I love the copper nickel brake line, easy to work with and doesn't rust. Very affordable. You can get it online for dirt cheap. Some local parts store carry it around me also.

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
I dont know...there's just something about npt on brake fittings that doesn't seem right....working in industry I've seen more than my share of broken npt fittings...even with the banjo npt ...
Hard to believe Wilwood uses that... |
