got my new tires installed today, bought some more spray paint to finish and paint a few things, reinstalled my rear lower bag bracket crossmember, drilled the hole for the lighted cig lighter (now i need to wire it up), sprayed some rust reformer on the inside of the drivers side fender, and bought some chrome exhaust tips.

About to head out to move my gas tank under the bed. I can hardly wait. The fumes in the cab have gone to my brain, so I hope I can do it right??????

My woman bought this for me for The Valentine's Hallmark Holiday. Good trade for some flowers and candy, huh?

I'm headed over to the shop in an hour to change out the rear brake shoes. I've never done it before. Bought new shoes,
checked the drums for "gouges", and I got some brake cleaner and a hefty little tool for the springs.

Anybody have any tips or warnings? After taking the drums off, where's the best place to start unhooking stuff?

The air cleaner's going on this:

Best advice given today's easy to use tech, is TAKE A PICTURE (phone pic should be fine) of the brake hardware after you get the drum off but before you start anything else, to use as a guide for how it goes back together.

Don't count on any spring tool to be less frustrating than a pair of pliers.

Good luck!

I'm debating whether to drop the inner fender to get at the heater core or a handful of more productive small projects.

Right on all counts, CS. Thanks. I took about ten good pics and then started on the driver's side (rear). I referred to the pics over and over as I re-assembled. Like ...which way did this spring hook?", etc.

Right also on the spring tool. Crap! Waste of seven bucks. Needle nose pliers and vice grips and two screw drivers (one big and one smaller). That was the ticket. It was a PIA. Maybe the passenger's side will be easier. I hope.

I bolted up the 1" spacer (95 lbs. torque..exactly). I'm getting back under it tomorrow to weld the roll pan, so I left the wheel off for now. Back into the cab for yet another mock-up.

Thanks for the tip. Pictures are ALWAYS a good idea. I should ALWAYS do it whenever there's more than one part!

Magwakeenercre2jh, what did you use to remove the markings off the original plastic lens prior to installing your tach?

thanks

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Removed the master cylinder/booster as an ass'y, then pulled the cab off of the chassis. While we had it in our hands, we turned it onto the firewall and loaded it into the trailer....that wouldn't haul it any other way. Good thing, because the firewall is swiss cheese.

After that, it was time to start getting the brake/fuel lines off and begin the scraping/wire brushing to get the excess stuff off before spraying it with cleaner/degreaser and hitting it with the pressure washer.

Got more done in two Sunday afternoons, than has been done in two years. Bonding with my son......it's a great thing!

I attempted to lower my truck. Spent 12hrs removing two leaf springs on each side and it only dropped one inch. It does ride alot better though. Will have to brake down and order a lowering kit.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I dusted the 67 off, and fired the motor up after she sat for almost 3 months. I let the motor run and the compressor fill the airtanks, and went back inside and asked my little boy if he wanted to go for a ride in the truck. My three year old could not get his jacket and boots on fast enough, and we took a spin around the block. It was nice to get the old girl out of hibernation.

A jigsaw. I cut the original lens out and used the one that came with the tach. The white around the edge is some 12 or 14 gauge
wire with the ends cut on the bias and pressed in with a touch of glue.

The logo is my motorcycle "club"...a sticker reduced on th e printer, cut out and glued to the black face of the aftermarket tach.

I fixed my squeaky clutch pedal - I ended up having to pull the dash to get at the top hinge, but it doesn't squeak now - very nice.

Changed out water pump due to bad bearing, and turns out the water pump was for a 69 corvette??? brought old one with me and matched up. Replaced while it hailed on me on Saturday night...and replaced both belts. Need to replace pump pulley since that happens to be the cause of my screech when I rev it. After work it will be replaced. And then put it all back together. oh yeah...got the driver door to lock now.

Replaced my heater blower, since it wouldn't work while working in Louisianna for a month, while they had the rainiest/coldest Jan on record. Fogged up windows the whole time. Checked fuses, switch, voltage at blower connector, all good. Replaced motor, No work. Tapped the ground wire above motor with screw driver, works great. Anyone need a 40 yr old working blower motor. Also installed my licence plate frame to rear sport bumper. Still need to buy light for it. CHeck your grounds. Jim.

cut out the top of the spring pocket on the passanger side, painted it all, and installed the plate, bag, fitting, and line. then i put the upper a arm back on. i also installed some heater hose around it for more protection of the air line, then i started running the air line inside through the side of the fire wall behind the fender, then i installed that fender and painted it green to match the rest of the burb. also had to take the drivers side fender back off so i can start on that side.
