Well, on 11/8 I tried to skip the 2000 paper and went to the 3000 pad, did the whole hood, and was not happy. I could see lots of scratch marks from the 1000 paper.
So on the 9th I went back and wet sanded the hood with 2000 paper by hand, and removed a lot of the scratches. On the 10th I used the 3000 pad and then the 5000 pad. Hood looked good at that point, so I used the wool pad and #l step material to buff it out. Today I used the foam pads using #1, then #2 and finally #3 to finish it up. Hood looks good, still a few small imperfections, but I can live with that. Here's a couple pics...Jim |
Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Jim, Don't be so hard on your self! You can see every imperfection because your looking for them, we won't see them as once it's together there is way to much going on to see anything Bad about it. Looking Good , Ray

I can’t see scratches on the hood in the pics Jim.
Probably neither when you stand outside and two feet away. Hood looks beautiful! |

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Hey everyone, nothing on the truck today (maybe tomorrow). Today my wife Aggie moved into a new concept home for elders. There are only 10 elders per home, and each has their own room and super size bathroom. She is so happy to be in the new home. I didn't get any pics today forget. But here is a link to West Vue's site. Take a quick look it is something that is brand new and made for "Baby Boomers" in mind...Jim

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
That looks like a real nice place Jim...looks much better than a run of the mill nursing home
|
Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Congrats! That looks like a really nice place.
You are right that we boomers are the bulge in that part of the health care profession. Glad she likes it. |
Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Jim, is this a new area completely or a addition to the home she had lived in? It looks roomy and inviting for Family and friends. I'm glad Aggie likes her new home.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
wow thats a nice place! how does she like having just 10 people? my wifes grandmother was in assisted living and it seemed like she hung out with very few people and talked about the rest haha
|
Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Like you and I discussed Jim this is a great idea for those that aren’t able to do assisted living. Looks much nicer than a nursing home. Very nice!
Now the providers need living arrangements for aging baby boomer car car guys with a big community shop attached. |

"ON THE ROAD AGAIN". Well, yesterday I took the truck in for safety inspection, got new plates, so I was all set. I drove it today also and put about 30 miles, runs and drives the same, so I'm real happy. After it got dark I aimed my headlights, and took for a short drive. Can see everything great.
I want to say a big THANK YOU to all the members that followed on this sometime, up and down, work to finish it up. Mark and I appreciate all the response that you great guys and gals have shown during this time. I'm sure there will be other improvements further down the road, and it will be posted. For now, we will continue to follow your builds and adventures...Jim Oh, I forgot here's a couple pics. |
Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
