maybe some of youz can learn me something, my '74 had welded nuts under the floor for the trans tunnel to bolt down to, this '71 doesn't

does this mean they felled off or did they not do that on the 67-72s ?

please and thank you

nothing like drilling new holes in the floor you spent days filling holes in

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck

I think the 4 WD or big block trucks had the bolt in "high hump" transmission cover whereas your run of the mill low hump trans tunnel (ie: floor) came on the 2 WD trucks. I had to install a high hump tunnel and just used a rivnut tool so I can bolt it down. I love those things.

that thought crossed my mind and the holes seemed too far away from the edge at least an inch away possibly 1.5"

reserved for some pics of the finished transmission cable linkage if and when my friends show up to help me, one says he has a cracked rib from working on his friend's GTzero and the other claims to have fallen off his bicycle into some strategically placed poison oak [again]

This is using B&M push pull cable designed for a dime a dozen American GM Turbo TH350 three-speed transmission

shown going through the gears: PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, DRIVE

a little video of it in action: B&M Shifter with Lexus GS450h transmission

What AWG would you say this is ?

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck

so thinking something like this with some M6 ring terminals crimped on the ends

so this high voltage (360 volt) connection from that horizontal plug to the silver box (aka Inverter) is only live when the truck is on / running, when the truck is Off you can touch this cable and there is no juice in it

thank you sir, according to that chart, a 9mm diameter puts us at 00 AWG so nearly twice the size of the 4 AWG kit I bought, however than I found these guys who claim 9mm takes a 1 AWG crimpy crimp

I really hope using a long stand off like a 1.5" will be ok cause I really don't want to redo the Inverter bracket

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck

I figure with the popularity of the sport we may have folks of different skill levels so it don't hurt to share some basic stuff like crimpin'

so this crimper aint the best, it leaves sharp edges, hence the file, now if you crimp in two steps, using something like a 35mm jaws then go down to 25mm ones you can sort of minimize the sharp edges, but if you just use the 25mm jaws you get a razer blade like edge to file away

not this is some serious stuff here, this is where 360 volts and bazillion amps will be coming in to this Lexus Inverter from the BMW battery pack on it's way to the Lexus transmission with two electric motors in it

in order to get the 360 high voltage wires as close to the inverter as possible we have to modify the inverter bracket

I'm still working on my Welding Game and here I tried the tac tac tac method (dumb I know)

first attempt at the proper cut out

Sometimes we just have to tell ourselves, "at least it'll be strong enough". Lord knows I've had a ton of "strong enough" booger welds on projects over the years.

so that first cut out wasn't wide enuff to clear a plastic cable bracket I wanted to mount right below the lug connection, so I had to make a bigger cut out
