Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Today started early , I need to use my next door neighbours trailer , unfortunately he had loaded the trailer with some old furniture that he was getting rid of . So after breaking up the furniture I put it in the back of my car and took it to the local tip , it's easier than taking the trailer there . So once that was done I went over to Rian's friend Kevins , to collect some paving slabs for my garden project . After all this running around it was lunch time .
Then the proper work started . TRUCK TIME ........... First I pushed it out of the garage (these new wheels are great on the trolley thanks Rian) http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psgyxot8kd.jpg The first job was to remove the old sound deadening pads http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps0ay5im1q.jpg Wow it's amazing the difference between two cabs of the same age . All the sound deadening pads removed http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps00uku0ek.jpg Next job was to remove the old dash . The radio was fitted by a blind man with a chainsaw I think http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps1nezpyzi.jpg Dash all removed http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pszdfixas5.jpg New dash in place that I removed from my old cab http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psdtqekcfh.jpg After that job was done I filled in the gas filler hole . http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psok0gojlu.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pstjbldht2.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pssqumpfg4.jpg Next job will be to fill in the hole in the transmission hump , and then remove and clean up the brackets for the gas tank . It's great to be working back on the truck , and not a bad afternoons work . |

Yesterday I picked up a garage door on free cycle , for the concrete garage I am replacing the shed with . Having an up and over door means more access getting things in and out . The concrete garage I got . The front will be an up and over door instead of this setup . I plan on using these windows and door on the side http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps5ydjqqa4.png http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps61o0fadq.png The door I collected Free of charge http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pshix3ui62.jpg And if ordering parts for the truck counts as truck time then I ordered one of these http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psn2vp0s36.jpg I also ordered a second one for someone else he knows who it is but I will let him tell you or post it on his thread . |

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
With the Mercedes now gone , and the truck back on track . The parts list is slowly coming down . I ordered my bedsides from one of the forum members Nsane hot rods . Paul ( NevEno ) gave me his details. That's where he got his from . So I ordered them on Thursday and getting them sent to Ron at STS imports . DeWayne promised to get them there by Monday the 13th as the container leaves on the 14th . Then it's about 6weeks . I have used Ron before , getting my hood and fenders and bumpers to the UK . so what was the best , and cheapest way to get the bedsides to te UK . Now the hard bit WAITING.......
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psw7gifltn.jpg All being well and it stays dry on Sunday I plan getting the hole in the transmission tunnel welded up so its ready for blasting and priming . It's booked in on Saturday the 11th |
Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Dewayne at NsaneHotrods is great to deal with .Looking forward to more updates .

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Very nice!! Looking back on my build I should have just bought new bedsides. It would have saved a lot of time. I am sure there are lots of things you can do to the truck will you wait.

Martin… you so got this. Its great to see you totally motivated on the build at hand. You are an inspiration to us all. Choose and focus… or as we say here in the states, "Get'er done"

Clem, you are totally right. He is now focussed on the prize. Unfortunately in life at times we have to stand down till the storm passes. I know this too. But Martin has now hit it with a new level of energy and commitment. Even today, I know he is out working overtime at his day job so he can keep his focus and drive his build. I am just headed to my garage. |

way to go martin you got a lot done! changing the dash out is something I thought of doing, but only cut the radio part out to fix mine! good luck an keep at it, I'll have some updates on my thread after my trip to cali, spending this weekend getting everything lined out before we leave June 7th. which is in two days!!

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well I got a little more done today on the cab . With if going to the blasters next weekend , I decided it would make more sense , to weld up the hole in the transmission tunnel .
I think the previous owner should have purchased a grinder with a cutting wheel . If you think the dash was bad take a look at the hole he cut in the tunnel . I think they used a coal chisel and the a pair of grips to bend the cut metal over . http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps3uocfpnv.jpg The under side http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psa8znkj4m.jpg So first I cleaned up the part I cut from my old cab floor http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psmeyu4sm0.jpg I then welded in the new part http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps43bfnocg.jpg After welding it in I cleaned it up http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psyohhayot.jpg Then I welded up the hole that was for the second tank http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psp6uenpg4.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psqimjjca0.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps6jvitqxq.jpg I also welded up the holes left after I removed the jack brackets on the floor . http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psdwvbtper.jpg So with the floor all cleaned up it's ready for blasting next week . |
