It's not pretty, but I use it as a work truck, and it's been extremely reliable- this pic was before it got propane.......

Truck looks clean. Is it a 1500 or a 2500ld.

Edit: Just noticed it's 5 lug.

5-lug wheels = 2wd 1500

Yeah, I just noticed that and edited my post. I'm a big fan of the long beds of this era. Truck looks good.

I'm not feeling the smoked lights purely from a functionality standpoint, but everything else is beatiful!! :metal:

What did you do to the chrome ring to get the brushed look?

I like the murdered out look. I've jsut never cared for smoked head and running lights though, I prefer clean factory lights myself.

Looks good though. You running a 4/6 drop on there?

itchy - what kind of paint is that?

I'm thinking about making my burban flat. I probably won't take the plunge right away, but i'm working on the interior soon (swapping for gray leather)and i'd like to paint the visible metal while the plastic is out. If i don't go flat black, i'll eventually repaint the factory colors (blue and silver).

Just sanded it with some 400 grit sandpaper till it looked right. Ya, the light were an experiment. LOL. They are horriable at night. The grill has been changed since these pics, and the lights are next. Just dont know what to use yet. Want to put something a little different in there. But dont like any of the aftermarket light available. Have to do some drinkin and thinkin.

Bell Tech spindles and 2" springs up front, shackle and hangers out back.

Paint is S.E.M. brand, Hot Rodz black. About $50 a quart, and very easy to use. Did the whole truck with two qts. Didnt have any problems with it clouding up, like other flats that I've used.

Thanks for the possitive remarks fellas.
Cheers, Keith.

I may have to give that a try when I get my GMC grille.

I've used a lot of different brands and styles of aftermarket headlights through the years on the various '88-'98 trucks I've owned. I have a set of the TYC Elegante lights on my Suburban right now. They are hands down the best looking, best fitting, best working lights I've ever bought. I wouldn't want anything less ever again.

Got my old girl all cleaned up the other day, including a long-overdue wax job. Couldn't resist the urge to take pics.

And this will be my "before" picture after it comes down 2" all around...it's got spindles, hangers, and shocks waiting in the garage.

Yay, I can contribute to this thread now.

I traded my 1981 C20 Scottsdale for this 1989 K2500 Silverado.

I got my bumper and grille installed today, finally. I used Street Scene black chrome speed inserts.
Out of the box, they don't fit as well as I like them to. After a little bending, and tweaking they fit pretty good. They're definitely not a "drop right in" kind of insert.

The bumper was powder coated, and grille shell just regular painted....

Thanks guys!

Next thing on the list is getting the rear done. I don't know if I want to run a roll pan or just a color matched bumper. I've never been a big fan of roll pans on 2 door Tahoes. Having a roll pan on these really accentuates the fuel tank. But we'll see.

The shop that painted my grille and bumper told me they can order a rear bumper cap that's completely smooth. It would get rid of the step pads and outer trim.

1badgmc 06-28-2010 09:06 AM

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

I vote color matched bumper for functionality and to keep that damn tank hidden.

What I always wanted to do with my old Yukon (and wouldn't mind doing with my Suburban) is to take 2 bumpers and weld them together so that they're straight all the way across without the recessed tag area. Then french in a license plate box like a rollpan.

JohnC 06-28-2010 09:07 AM

Re: How about some pics of 88-98 Trucks

I think the bumper would look good on it. I like the roll pans, but I agree with you. There is just something about the tahoes that just don't look right to me with a roll pan.
