Hard to believe Wilwood uses that...

I feel same about NPT ...these parts will get us there for bending, flaring and layout. Can always change the connection before final assembly.

Get a few more parts and some paint on the engine and this will be looking decent.

I have the second option you are showing on my Willwoods. 3 years 18,000mi no problems.
Organizing parts and how things will get put together is 3/4 of building the truck, you have been busy.

Thanks 99, there will still be plenty to do! And we’ve added in some wiring and crimping, as well as brake line forming seminars. Should be fun.

Thanks lower. Is the one on the left the connection you are using?

I don’t think so Greg. There was a lot of excitement about snow quantity here Friday night into Saturday. This morning it is almost gone. The media and people whip it into a frenzy. Last build like this we did the temp’s were similar and we kept the shop at 60 degrees.

Doing this for Cindy so I am sure it will work out.

Doug — I’m really looking forward to the event! I was in SoCal a couple days this week enjoying great weather, then came home to Colorado for cold and snow. Heading to northern Virginia tomorrow - cold and snow! Then Friday morning a quick flight to Indy and some weenie rental car to head your way for more cold and snow. No escaping it apparently!

I just have to figure out how to pack everything - slacks, sport coat, winter and garage clothes, and maybe my welding helmet. Not sure my carry-on bag will do the trick! One way or another I’ll be there. Fire that garage heater up! :metal::metal::metal:

TSA will probably be watching you pretty close! Heat is on and will be comfy. Looking forward to meeting you Scott!

Here is the design on the back of the black T shirts.

Thanks, gotta give my friend Jeff credit for the design. Thinking I maybe should have got more than 50 of them...

This will be one of the small raffle prizes.

After 35 years with GM, I have elected to retire and I am hanging up my name badges.

Now I will have time to really focus on projects and perhaps improve my skills in the shop.

Sweet! Congratulations! I retired 18 months ago but don’t sit still very well. Lots of projects and other activities, a little pt work behind the Cabela’s gun counter, and I still fell for the pitch when a small consulting gig came my way. I’m supposed to be limiting to 15 hrs/week - gotta work on that.

With all your projects I’m sure you’ll do better than I have.

Doug, dont know if you have your grounding kit figured out but I just got one of these from American autowire
It basically separates it into 3 sections via the junction blocks.
Front, center and rear of vehicle, this way you dont have to run ground from the back all the way to front separately.
Found cheaper on Amazon $130

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Mark, that looks like a nice kit and worth checking into. Appreciate the head’s up!

So, since I retired I bought a retirement truck. It goes well with the trailer.

Cindy always said if you have guests coming over make sure the place is picked up.

We will have good food too. Homemade cookies, cupcakes, brownies, with coffee and soft drinks for snacks. Cindy’s recipe for baked spaghetti with salad for lunch. I will bring in pizza’s or whatever the guys want for dinner.

Some pretty cool items in the raffle too.

LS wiring seminar, crimping practice with various crimpers , brake line forming and flaring seminar with nickel copper, steel and stainless steel line to practice / compare.

Three welding areas with torch, MIG, TIG and some talented folks to show us tips. Metal shaping opportunity is thrown in too.

Gonna be great!

This sounds more like a “Workshop Carbuilding” then a Wire and Fire meet up.
Doug, you have your things together on this one!!

As Greg said, a beautiful, clean workspace!

(I have to check it out myself sometime...)

Thanks Kees, you are welcome any time.

We had an amazingly positive day with so many talented friends! Special thank you to my new friends Scott and Greg, who traveled from Colorado and Alabama to be here. I really appreciate them sharing their time and talent! Really good guys who are talented builders. And thank you to Lucas, another talented member here who was enthusiastically involved too!

So many wonderful people involved and contributing to the hospice fundraising. Gonna need to order more shirts.

Late and tired after a long week. Will share more later.

Yes, the burb started and ran fine.

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait

That was a lot of fun Doug! It was a great bunch of guys and a lot of progress was made especially a really nice job on the trans tunnel and firing the motor. I’m sure you’ll post a pic of the tunnel when they get it finalized and in place and probably a video of the motor running? Greg is right that it was motivating and while I may not get a suburban project I will definitely get working to finish off my truck! Thanks for putting on a great event!

Kees, Steven and Jim. I was deeply moved so many came so far to contribute and participate! With T shirt sales, raffle, 50/50 and donations, we raised $2,000 for hospice.

Greg and Scott, I was so honored you two came so far to participate! Not only are you good people, you are really talented and I made two new friends. Gotta admit, I often feel like Rudy the water boy running onto the field for Notre Dame. Hopefully you made it home safely.

I will post updates when I can grab time to organize pics for upload. Facebook has been updated. In meantime, here is the trans tunnel a couple of my metal shaping friends made.
