anyways, no. you wont need their pan. Bob's changing his because he lives in 4 by country and he's lowering the truck more.;) the pan hangs anywhere between 1-2" below the front xmember. hopefully in the next couple day(weather permiting) i can give you an exact measurement.

Dennis,

Can you post a pic of the oil pan in reference to the cross member? Your build is really coming along nice!!!!!

i bought the grommet online. its called seals-it. cool stuff there... i had to modify mine to get such a big harness through but they just came out with a new style that is cut in half so installing it would be a lot easier.

we got home yesterday from a nice vacation on the coast to find a few packages waiting in the bed of the truck for me:D THANKS AGAIN FOR WATCHING THE HOUSE BILLY!!

Coming right along man. Cant wait for the Oklahoma meet! Might have to tow the black shorty on the black CCSB??? Nah, trailers are for horses, the black shorty needs a couple thousand break in miles put on it anyhow.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

tomorrow i'll get the column bolted in, steering shaft cut and in, mount the a/c vacuum canister somewhere in the cowl out of sight, and a few other odds and ends. then it will be on to the painless wiring harness and installing the gauges:D

btw, the raam mat bxt is a great product. adheres like no other!!! kind of a mess and sticks like heck but other wise very nice.

Looks great Dennis! I bet you kind of hated covering up that super slick looking floor though ;). I'm stunned you didn't track down a tilt column, don't get me wrong though, that one looks great!!! A little advice on installing it...go slow, it can get scratched really easy...ask me how I know :).

What made you go with the RAAMat stuff instead of Dynamat? Im sure there isnt much difference in quality but just wondering. Also what did you use to roll it out so nicely on your floor. It looks great. I am going to be buying some soon as well for my c10. How much did it take?

thanks guys!! i used a roll of bxt and a case of bxtII. looks like its going to be perfect amount. We used ALOT! doubling up through all the seams. We used a wall paper roller to get it smoothed out and believe it or not some water proof tape for pipes on all the seams. you can get it at wally world. be sure to get at least 2 rolls. the tape is made out of the same stuff the ram mat is made out of. as for going with ram mat... just google it! tons of info and high praise on the stuff:D

i got a lot done today! column in with all new hardware. all the parts blasted and painted. cowl cover blasted and painted. locker shift linkage (PAIN IN THE ASS) installed and goes into ALL gears:D also started on the wiring harness and finished installing the sending units for the ultra lite's!!

no, i've read that it holds moisture and i had just planned on going with factory insulation over custom open loop carpet. we will see though.

the rod for the linkage barely hit the brake booster brace on the firewall. then once i cleared that it was hitting on the o2 sensor that screws into the header collector. once i finally figured i couldn't get around the sensor i removed it then had to go back and forth with the adjustments (like 5+ different adjustment points) until finally it was dialed in and went from P R N OD D 2 1. just kicked my butt is all:D
