Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Two questions:
1) I spied your welder in the back ground. Could you tell me the model, power rating and duty cycle? Is that the welder you used to weld your frame? I am currently, uh "extending" my education and taking some welding classes. 2) Do I see the reason that progress has slowed in the background in the last pic? |

I hope I inspired you to get out there! I know this board has done that for me more than once :metal: Quote:
On the second question; If anything I get more time in the shop because of her :D It's the three kids that try to slow me down and she runs interference ;) My full-time job plus full-time school she can't help me with though... :waah: |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
You are an unbelievable artist, if i wore a hat it would be off to you!!! just a question since obviously you are great at coming up with stuff, i want my engine compartment to look original (hence i want to use the original style inner fenders) have you done yours yet ?? i sort of got the idea from your pictures that you might be doing this also, mine sets like yours in the front i think i am running the same size tires and wheels, i had to arch my fenders like yours also.. anyway i wanted to see if you had pictures of yours so us less imaginative people could copy yours....Thanks

Hey thanks :) Here's the link to the fenders. Haven't stretched the inners to match yet.
BTW guys, I am taking a little break from this project to drop a new engine/tranny in the Sunbeam. ...to be continued... |

just when I thought you couldn't get any cooler! That will be a sweet set up... Any turbo plans?

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
240hp factory (plus some after tuning and removing cats/egr, and cold air intake, etc...) will be "enough" for now in that 2100lb car. I chose the F20C for it's light weight so the car will still handle. I just want a nice driver/sleeper. The stock engine could barely make it up a slight grade and was starting to make some low-end noise. Who knows what'll happen down the line... The brakes/susp will get upgraded before a turbo ever goes in though (has small factory discs up front).

Now if you can just get the car balaced and set up to handle as well as an S2000. Those cars handle awesome. Brake upgrades will definitely be needed though. |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
:chevy: WOW! I have been away for about a year & just finished checking out all the progress on your Tahoe. Awesome work. You really do have the skills to pay the bills. Looks like the rear lift-gate hinge idea turned out well too!
Please keep us posted. Brad |
Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Well, now I have to keep checking back not only for updates on the Tahoe, but for pics of the Sunbeam2000 as well. :phat:

Awesome project man! I've always wanted to do a Tahoe like that. You're doing a great job at this one! I love the way you're doing the rear doors! Awesome job, can't wait to see it done!

Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*
Man, I JUST joined this site (this is my first post!) and have been lurking around the past few days, trying to learn about these trucks...as I've always been a huge fan! And all I have to say is that your build is absolutely amazing! I just spent the last 4 hours reading through all 44 pages, taking it all in. It just keeps getting better too! After getting over the initial shock of the Tahoe conversion, the one piece rear hatch blew me away (along with everything else of course), especially with the hidden hinges :metal:
And an F20 in a Hillman......jeeeez  That will be rediculous! Anyway, just wanted to let you know that you and your build have completely inspired me to build Tubby a brother. I've already started looking for the earlier rear hatch hinges and I don't even have a Suburban yet... |
