Re: My 57 Pro Street

Kim57 Thanks so much the photo's, the starting post # would have been more than enough. Can I PM you for questions about this panel, and such? I'm a few months from pulling the trigger on my build thread. I'm just trying to do as much pre-planing as possible.

I spent several hours studying your hood sectioning and the forward tilting attachments. Wow your skills, and analytical process is off the charts. Thanks so much NC

Ahhhh, ok got it. Man, I was thinking you were really a glutton for punishment....or enjoyment,.,depending on your point of view, ha ha. I guess I'd never noticed you had done that back panel. Cool looking though.

You can ask questions any time and I'll try and help as much as possible.
That's what this board is all about.

Hope to get another 66 Chevelle some day.

Hey Kim, could you show me some better picture on what the top part of the cowl vent looks like where you welded it to the cab like where the window seal will cover? I'm trying to smooth mine out but I didn't have a cowl vent cover to start.. And I'm having problems

Here's a pic before i welded it.
It just buts up to the bottom of the window.
I welded the seam there and just ground it down.
I'll get another pic when I get a chance to show how it looks welded.

Thanks Kim! Do you know how far the window seal comes down on that part? I'm just worried about not getting that seam right and it messing up the deal or something

Not sure how far down it comes but I don't think it shouldn't hurt the sealing of the window.

Hey Kim, doing the same on mine and thinking about just laying a heavy bead of seam sealer all around and not welding. Wondering if the windshield rubber will help seal from the outside on top and the seam sealer will keep water out. Did you weld the entire top and side joints too?

Thanks, Jim

I welded it all the way around. I think the window rubber would keep water out but not sure how tight it fits against the vent.

Can you post a pic of it welded/ground? I'm still thinking I prefer the tow side seams in lieu of none. Thanks, Jim

This is what happens when you stare at something you weren't entirely happy with. I never really liked the tail lights I was going to use but at the time didn't find anything that made me happy.
Out with the old and in with the new.
2" beehive led's set up to use as tail/brake lights. A little fab work and we are on our way.

I like them a lot better also. Fits the theme of the truck a lot better than the old ones.
