Thanks Lower!!

Today I went on a small roadtrip... Fog and freezing wheather... But it was fun!!

I picked up an aluminium tool box, finally found one :metal:
I have to trim it here and there, but that shouldn't be a problem.
This one has no bottom in it, it is the intention that you use the bed itself as bottom. I don't know if I keep it that way or that I make a bottom myself.
Also don't know if I wil keep it at it"s natural color or if I will paint it black.
I lean towards black. What do you guys think??
In the pics it looks small, but it's 71 inch width ;)

I agree with you and vote for painting it black.

And remember: have fun and stay save!!

See you next year :metal:

Decision is made: it's going to be black, maybe with some painted art on it.

Today I was going through beautiful but very cold Holland to get some parts for my Harley. On my way back home I went to the armyplace where I served 4 years back in the day. That's close by where I bought the parts.
Too bad the security wouldn't let me in...
We had a very nice conversation about how things are changed the last 30 years. I worked there (Soesterberg, NL) from 1988 to Sept. 1992. Had to search for the right way to get there
At some point the conversation only was about my truck, he loved it!!
The armyplace was still in use, some things Istill remember from the old days, the gate is the same and they even use the old filling station for fuel!
Then I went to the palace where our former Queen used to live, nice place!!
This was the road I drove forth and back the four years I worked there, brought back good memories!!!
It was a nice, good day!!

Some pics, the last two are of the palace, shame you don't see it that good, sorry...

Thanks guys!!
It's used almost every day! Loving it!!

So, now on to the toolbox I bought.
It is now black, I made a floor in it, tweaked it here and there, and now it's in the truck!

Sorry I tried to turn the pics but it won't move.....
You have to turn you head instead

Now as the floor is in, I painted it black.
This afternoon I bolted the box in with the help of my wife:metal:

I also got a Apache Truck Club sticker out of the US of A, from Valenté Jacobia.
I don't know if he is active here on the board, but he has some great stuff!!
I made a sign to go on the toolbox to brake the large black backside.....
Asked permission to use the 4-eyed front of Task Force Era, so here it is:

Thanks PTC! You have to love my So Cal Speedshop sticker! You got me this!!
I can try and get you a Apache Club sticker, but it would be half a sticker 'cos you got half a hood :lol:

Okay, serious now...;)
I went to my buddy Frank yesterday, he has a car ramp that I can use, so I don't have to lay on the ground all the time.
I have made my speedometer to work, pulled out out the electronic device out of the 700R4 and put in a mechanical one.
Put in new gears that I calculated, and guess what??? It's spot on with a GPS hub!!!
Only got a slight deviation around the 50 mph range, but 30 and 60 mph are on the spot!
Frank has a few nice cars in his shop, a '48 Pontiac for sale and a Ford F47 where they put in a 6,2 diesel motor :metal:
The Ford is ready for registration, the Pontiac just got one.

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed

Kees, your buddy Frank has some cool rides and a great looking shop. Was it built as a garage with all the windows? Must be very difficult to heat.
Nice work dialing in the speedo...

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed

Hi Doug, it is originally a green house.
He has some heaters in there, I didn't use them when I was there, the temp was 3 degrees C ( or 37 F).

Frank buys and sells Classic American Cars, mostly '40-'50's cars, he helped me get my truck to Holland.
So he gets your junk out of USA :lol:

Nice job on the box!!!

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed

Thanks Lower!!!

Nothing done on the truck but making plans.
One important plan is to rework the steering column. I have a tight spot when I turn to the right, not heavely, but enough to not like it.
Also thought about making a tonneaucover out of aluminium....

A good friend of mine has his own business in welding, stainless steel, aluminium and ordinairy steel.
He also got a chopped '48 Plymouth Coupe.
He wanted his car pinstriped, so we made a deal: I stripe his car and he helps me with re-welding the left header and making the tonneaucover.
Great deal if I may say so :uhmk:
But....I also have to help him in the future with his two other projects, he's got two '29 model A Ford Tudors, one stock with France papers and one chopped, uncomplete in parts.... I hate Hot Rods :lol:
But that is for the future.
I started striping on the front, that is already been done, the trunk and fenderskirts I do at home.
So, we are not doing nothing ;)
