Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Tunnel turned out looking good Doug....it looks like he cut the toeboard flange off and welded it back on.....did it not fit right?....I thought he had it fitting good...
Made it home just fine...drove in that white crap all the way to Tenn.... Dont forget...none of those brake lines have been tightened...they're just finger tight... |

They didn’t fit the toe boards initially, but once we re bent the floor board flanges on day 2 to lower the tunnel 3/4”, they ended up lining up so I just welded them back on. |

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait

Looks like a nice event ...... and those skills on fabrication ...... Im thinking of having to get back under my truck tonight. Dark, 45 degrees, concrete, no roller just lots of oil dirt and fuel :) Its still fun though (mostly). |

The week end was spectacular with making friends, building a Suburban, sharing / learning knowledge, fighting a blizzard and rescuing a car full of young women stuck in the snow.
The hospice people are so appreciative of the funds we raised, I am grateful for all everyone did and I know Cindy would have been very pleased!!! Next steps, figure out tire and wheel fitment and determine then resolve any radiator clearance issues. Oh, on that first picture, pronounce the managers name aloud to anyone sitting close to you. Giving credit to "Arrested Development." Just a chuckle to wrap up with. Thank you for checking in. |
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
I have no idea of where all the people came from, also have no idea of the distance they traveled.
But it’s really nice to see so many dedicated and skilled people for the good cause together! Every day I checked the FB updates, too bad I couldn’t be there. You may be proud of yourself Doug, and even so all involved!! |

That’s a great donation!
1000 miles....hmmm, that’s from my house to the middle of sunny Spain! You guys and girls have lots of work done to the Burb. I start planning, if it is my possibilities, I come over. |

Thanks guys. Yes, the Lord was providing and folks were very generous.
For example, Cindy’s sister painted this cool painting of for the raffle. She used Iceburgh’s Burb for the model. I offered the raffle winner of the painting $100 because I really wanted it. He took it and promptly donated that to hospice fund. |

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Doug ...there is the fitting like I was referring to the other night at your shop...
I think they will fit the proportioning valve(must verify)... and then to the flex line ..and on to the brake hard lines...thus eliminating the moonshine still coils ... im going to order some for Columbus as well...ive just got to verify the thread size in my prop valve... (for correct fitting see smbrouss70 post below) |

With the front end tacked in place the Holley midmount accessory drive has plenty of clearance. |

You have the same proportioning valve as I do on my Blazer and it is designed for a 45° double flared brake line. The fitting that Greg shows would have to seal at the threads, which is not ideal on a brake system with such high pressures. It would be better to have it seal on the seat of the flare and use a fitting designed for that, like shown below. Here is a list from Summit of available fittings.

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
bingo...even better!!!!...I was just looking at wilwood...the fitting pic I posted actually says its for the master cylinder .....im gonna edit that out above to avoid confusion

Steven thank you for the information and the link to the parts!
And Greg, thanks again for the idea. Due to the larger diameter of the rotor, Burb needed some bigger shop rollers. Sent this pic to some buddies and asked them which wheel looked the best as I was going with one of them....They were diplomatic. Actually the top one doesn’t look bad. |
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Doug, I've always liked the 5 star type of wheel. The swirl look is UGLY , even on the stock vehicle. Since these are rollers, what size are they, and what type will you run later?...Jim
|
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
5 spoke....definatly.....I'm with Jim...I've never liked swirly rims....
|
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
I guess I'm the oddball, but I'm used to that. I've never really liked swirly wheels either, but I've always liked those Corvette wheels for some reason. I guess it doesn't really matter since they are just shop rollers anyway, huh?

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait

Yeah wheels are always a fun and tough decision to make. The Corvette is 17” and The 5 Star is 16”.
The Vette wheel is too wide and too small diameter to turn more than a few degrees. Fine for a shop roller on GoJacks. |

I still like the boss style rims on a AD |

Yeah Nathan and I were talking about that intake and radiator tonight. Looks really familiar. And this one doesn’t have the engine setback mine has. Built by Level7 so I am not sure if owner is a member here. http://www.levelsevenmotorsports.com...er-copperpot/#
Found a pic of the finished truck on FB though I haven’t seen what they did for a radiator. You and Scott may need to come to one of my monthly Saturday events to help figure it out! |
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
those salt rims look better than I woulda thought on that one...not bad...you might contact them and see if they'll share what they did

Thanks for the additional research Greg. Looks like they found a solution. I like how they routed the HVAC lines through the kick panel area.
It could be worth a trip and I might know someone who knows them. Have some car friends down there that couldn’t make it Saturday. And the guys that did the trans tunnel might know them. Knocking out a few things on my DD then will get back on the Burb asap. Wow, was this thing hard to get on the lift. Heavy too. |
Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
no kidding, I had an aluminum flatbed on my 2500HD and its still a pig

Re: 48 Burb, bagged, 5.3, 20 year wait
Doug.
Can you clarify something for us newbies. #262 for rust patch panel When you cut it out and use a screw/cleco like that ...... doesnt that mean the backside is not painted/rust protected ? Also ... not its not level .... so bondo to smooth out ? Versus why dont you just cut out and shape a piece that fits and use magnets - then tack weld. I have no idea what IM talking about - just curious. Dont get the whole 'cleco' thing exactly as it creates that "step" between panels. |
