Well as long as you are medicating with quality product its perfectly fine Dale. No cheap stuff. And in moderation. Of course. ;)

Way to go Dale. Whatever it takes. Couldn't hurt if you enjoy it some, too!

I’m not sure if ‘moderation ‘ and Dale fit in the same sentence

There's been a study conducted on the effects of alcohol as a means for dealing with life's struggles on a day to day basis by leading researchers in their field. Nine out of ten have taken up daily drinking. Results could take decades. Problem is not as big as originally thought.

Well "Blue" isn't the best looking but I drove it home. Besides square tires it felt awesome!

Thanks guys, I have a lot of tinkering to do. I just ordered some 16" wheel vintiques for it. I forgot how good it sounds....

Yesterday was people watching day. I set up to sell Harley parts at a big indoor swap meet. They come out of the woodwork for this one, being dead of winter. But they forgot their wallets! I figured this was the time of year people find those pesky few hundred dollar crispies they forgot about last year.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

I traded my last bike for a Corvette 17 years ago. I really haven't missed it much until lately, and one of my friends has one for sale and another long time friend still rides.

My wife says I want, want, want, but I don't see the problem, I thought that's what I worked my tail off for all those years.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

I'm probably gonna sell mine. I tried to ride a while back but the last years worth of treatments have taken their toll. The strength and balance seem to have left....

I’ve got my scooter on Craigslist. I didn’t ride a whole lot this last spring, summer or fall. If it don’t sell I’m going to be intentional about riding it this year. Probably throw the back pack and tent on and go see some places I ain’t been.

I think you have something else on CL too don't you? Didn't I see the green machine there?

well look on the bright side if you're missing the harley.. you could loosen the motor mounts and cut the mufflers off your truck and pour some oil out in the driveway, get that feeling back

just kidding! trully hoping you get back in shape to handle the bike safely and continue riding! maybe one of those can-am jobs or an old custom trike :D

Yes you did. I’ve had it on there for a minute. A couple different fellas offered me $10000 but I turned them down. Looking back on it I probably should have made the deal. I’ve been torn on if I should sell the truck but now I’m in a situation where now it would be beneficial for me to let it go.
I may list it here on the boards. I may be downsizing big time here soon.

special-K 01-29-2019 08:17 AM

Re: My Facetruck thread.

I've been downsizing gradually over the past 10-12 years. I like my stuff too much to do it any other way. Although I would have loved to keep hanging on to about anything and everything I have sold, I have enjoyed the whole experience.

My bike needs brake work and I haven't ridden it in 4-5 years now. Just can't make it a priority. It came to a point where I realized it's not such a new jump on go anywhere bike any more, although up yo that point that is how I road it. Funny thing is, this intersects with me wanting to perform the final touch on building it I have always wanted to do. It's got a custom built S&S motor, the transmission is blueprinted/upgraded, competition clutch, taller 1st gear, Deltron inner primary case, hi-torque starter... I mean she is built to run... but brakes are still just stock calipers chrome plated. Really incomplete and really kinda dumb. I could just do a rear master cylinder, but I want to do the whole brake upgrade I want. That requires new fork legs to run dual discs and Wilwood calipers. I am itching ton ride again. I really started missing it last summer. I'd like to start gathering the parts, starting with fork legs.

During this time of not riding I have found myself wondering if it's time to stop. Something I never thought I could fathom. Kind of a quit while it's good sort of thing. I figure I'll always hang onto the bike, no matter what. I think we were meant to stay together... unlike the woman I took a honeymoon on it with 29 years ago. I think I'll probably just keep putting on the country roads till I can't hold it up.

I dig it. ALL motor, the only power adder is the right foot.

He’s pretty good with his left foot too. Wish he would have asked him how long he’s had the car- bet it was long time

Re: My Facetruck thread.

My Facetruck post for today is I fixed a couple eggs over easy and some sausage (loose sage) for breakfast. Had two cups of coffee and it was really good. I put the usual half a spoon of.... Forget that! This ain't Facebook anyway!

So I wimped out on working out in the cold today after going there to see for myself what feeling too cold to work was. After that confirmation I was heading back home when I came upon a flatbed tractor-trailer with a few lengths of 4" steel pipe all hung up in a driveway. If you knew this road you'd know what an odd sight this was. Further up the straight shot of road (narrow unmarked) that runs at grade with the creek next to it, floods all the time, is a Z turn between two old buildings a pickup with a car trailer would have a hard time zig-zagging through. The driver's GPS took him on this road. That GPS ain't from around here. So he had backed it up to this first driveway to a house that sits up the hill. So he had backed past and was attempting to pull up in their to turn around backing it out (3pt, more like 30pt). The tractor was in the grass (snow covered) on the other side of the driveway, his right trailer wheels were dangling over the ditch, one set in the air on the left, and trailer bumper dug in to the asphalt. The road was clear but damp. I hooked the ole Suburban up and dragged him out. She was spinning in 4wd but once we got a little motion it was all over and done with. The driver hadn't been there long, just happened, so no trouble for him with his boss.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

I had to feel like I did something useful today. I usually stop to see if a person needs help. This I could see before stopping. My first thought was "Where was he trying to go?" The next driveway 150yds on the other side and across the bridge was his best bet. It's a farm lane, so plenty wide entrance for swingin' it. That dude was lost man

Re: My Facetruck thread.

The GPS can be dangerous. Two folks left my place using GPS to get back to their hotel. Weather was deteriorating with wind and snow increasing that evening. They were led down an old river road that washed out years ago and stopped when they drove to a levee. Luckily they didn’t get stuck with their 2wd truck and were able to turn around. They were pretty far from the main road with near zero visibility.

Re: My Facetruck thread.

I've heard of some bad bum steers from GPS like that. I was wondering, aren't there GPS programs for trucks, taking into consideration bridge weight, length, and height limits? Some young guys that stopped told me they helped a CAR CARRIER driver get out of a bad situation he got himself into actually trying to get through that zig-zag. I can't believe anyone would ever even try. I'm talking a road no wider than 14-16' taking an absolute 90 then opposite 90 20-30' apart with structures right at the edge of the road, including a stone wall before you even get to the first bend right against the pavement. Oh, and directly on the opposite side of the first 90 is the creek right at the edge of the road (no guard rail). I wish I could take a picture. The thing with that car carrier is, there are no car lots anywhere near. This is out in the boonies. I drive 25 minutes to this job, all nice scenic country road. My only complaint is there are no stores or fuel between here and there. Nothing. Must have been a transporter hauling to an individual residence

Re: My Facetruck thread.

GPS on my phone brought me right to your place AD. My wife did question it though after a couple of miles of corn field and especially when we entered the river bottom.
