Thanks Bryan. The wife and I were talking last night about trying to make it up for the show. We just need to take a good look at the calendar. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks Keith! I almost didn't go as the Suburban is not totally finished and I hate showing it like that. But at some point, you get tired of working on them and just want to drive them,. It drove really well and everything worked as it should. I'm still working on the tune, but the drivability was good and I got around 15 mpg running around 75. I think that will go up as we have the tune somewhat rich. Other than that, I'm still working on the interior. My door panels are repainted and I received the restored Cheyenne door trim from CSM. I think it came our really well, :metal:. Will get everything put on in the next couple of weeks as I wrap up the interior.

Did an LED headlight install last night, it's really a night and day difference, :D.

Got the idea for the lights from looking at boardmember JWALL's square build:

Your panels look great. Those wood grain overlays can be a real pain to get just right. One more headliner question. I went to the box store and looked at FRP and it comes in two thicknesses. What thickness did you use?

Thanks. I didn't see 2 thicknesses, only a glossy and a satin color style. I purchased mine at Lowes.

I think it's one of these 2:

I have been working on the tune and cleaning up some small things. I redid my air intake tube, just need to powdercoat it black and I'll be done with that. I also got the rear door window regulators installed. Hopefully, I will have all of my door parts in next week so I can finish that part of the build.

I have my ECM mounted on the core support, so no room to do that this time.

Looking good Rob! I have a question for you. Did you install any AC for the rear of the Burb? I'm wondering if that's an option and how you did it. I've seen the factory version and it's uhh....interesting

I haven't seen any retro kits for the rear and I only have front air (VA GenIV unit). I insulated the crap out of everything and all of my glass is tinted. Hopefully, that will do the trick...:).

I keep forgetting you spent all that time swapping to "truck" taillights. That's going to look so cool with the trim and I bet *most* people will have no idea that's not how it's supposed to be :)

Thanks! I will be running the truck trim on min. The Burbs have a factory upper trim, but it is in a different location than the truck trim. It's not reproduced and hard to find.

Nice weather Saturday and someone reminded me about Cars and Coffee (Thanks Buck!) before the show and not after, :). Here's some good pictures I pulled off of the FB site.Saturday to I went to our local Cars and Coffee. I pulled these pictures from Facebook that someone had taken and posted.

Thanks! Can't wait to get the rest of the trim on.

***

The tune is coming along nicely, hope to have that wrapped up by the end of the month also. I had a new driveshaft built with a slip-yoke, heavy duty carrier bearing and a double cardan joint. This should make all my driveline angles nearly perfect and hopefully no vibrations....:sumo:.

There are two other things that I'm looking to upgrade:

1) I'm thinking about switching to a hydroboost setup for the brakes. My power steering pump is already setup for it, so it shouldn't be a hard conversion. Any thoughts on it? Any recommendations as far as a kit to purchase?

2) Driving this thing is a beast with the factory power steering box! I would like a quicker ratio box. Any suggestions or recommendations?

knomadd 07-05-2017 05:12 PM

Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)

On the hydroboost, I'd recommend Hydratech as that's what I'm running on both my 71 C/10 and my 65 GTO.

Here's a link to their stuff. http://www.hydratechbraking.com/GM_67-72_CK.html

Red head steering. Zero complaints here. Nice, firm, tight, reduced ratio, and my pump stopped whining

I think Delmo uses ABS Powerbrake:

Not sure how the price compares, but I think all of these options are rather pricey.

I ordered quick ratio directly from redhead--good service/fast shipping. If you're not in a huge rush, I'll have mine up for grabs soon-ish (dropmember going in). For hydro-boost, check out the Astro-van conversion captainfab offers, if you don't want to break the bank.

Define "soonish? Is the quickratio 4.0 or 3.5 LTL? I'll check Captainfabs setup.

Does it feel "touchy" at speed?

gringoloco 07-07-2017 10:54 AM

Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)

It's definitely not as relaxed as a stock box when highway cruising, but I wouldn't call it touchy or twitchy. I did run a flow reducer to slow it down some
