Steering column looks great and functional!
Sorry I don't know the part number for the booster adapter (Bob where you at?).

What are you doing with the interior? all new too? Where are you getting the door panels, dash, etc.? Just curious how deep you are going with this monster? It's going to be too nice to drive man.....;)
thanks

thanks Mike! for the interior i plan on getting panels for lmc(if mine are too rough) and having them covered with leather/vinyl all double stitched, the dash is clean so ill reuse it and have it wrapped, all new power window motors, everything that shows any sign of its age is going to be new. so most of it! im thinking black carpet, light grey dash and panels. not sure on the trim and headliner yet, and 2 tone buckets. here's a link to the seats im going for but i want black with grey inserts.

I got LMC door panels menace they look okay but they are not a perfect fit if your can find other option go with it cuz you can tell they are kind of cheap.
I dont have the car right here or i would of taken a pic were the imperfections are.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

i was going to try and use the plastic piece but i broke it into pieces on Billy's drill press. so i went with the back up plan and drilled the holes on the metal bezel part 2 5/8. nice tight perfect fit so far. im now cutting out the back of the white plastic part of the bezel so i can bolt the black piece with the gauges on. then i'll put the bezel on and start taking off a little at a time till i can see the full view of the gauges. and hope the glass on the gauges is mashed against the bezels holes. if not ill shim them up some how. im trying to do this without glueing anything and everything will come apart just like the factory would have done it:D it should turn out sweet!:metal:

Yeah the cut for lock and window is kind of bigger than the switch's so they keep moving around. I get different door panels later when i redo my interior.

that is pretty bad. i will for sure go with a stock door panel now. thanks 502!

well i worked on the gauges and bezel for about 6 hours yesterday and came to the conclusion that the 2 5/8 gauges just have too big of a face on them. no matter what they just didn't look right. you could see them if you move your head around. i ended up sending them back yesterday for the 2 1/16 size. i'm pretty confident that i can get them to work and look like they belong recessed without cutting on my new bezel or taking the gauges apart. its hard for me to pry the trim ring off brand new $100 gauges to make them fit right. and i wasn't too thrilled with having to cut up my new bezel either.

so the plan is to get another black metal piece from another cluster and take a 16th off so the gauges will mount just like before and hope the new bezel will sit flush without trimming and i'll be able to see the entire face of the gauges while being recessed like the originals! i'll post pics of the 2 5/8 gauges mounted and you can see what i'm talking about after work today.

Why dont you buy the billet aluminum cover for the gauges and use that. That is what I am using and it looks sick. I will post a pic of mine when I get home. But heres a pic of what mine looks like.
