I then slid the solid shaft into the collapsable shaft, it's sticking in about 1". All I need to do now is weld it up solid and I'm done with the steering

I just spent some time making sure it was all square and I fully welded it up. Steering is pretty much done now!

Thanks guys, I just bundle up and go out to do what I have to do.

Just last night we got another almost 10" of snow. This is a lot more than we usually get

Re: Nik's 62 build

No pictures but today is my 17th birthday and my mom and dad surprised me with a nice set of tires for my 16" rims! I'm really excited to get them mounted and on the truck soon! I'll post some pics tomorrow when there's a little more light. I also just passed a road test and I now have my novice license, meaning I can finally drive on my own without a supervisor. So now I'm going to be trying even harder to get the truck road worthy for this spring so I can insure it and drive it!

Happy Birthday! Tires are a perfect gift for a car guy. Congratulations on passing your test too.

What a great gift! I bet you'll get it up and running by then, you've been making some awesome progress and doing great quality work.

Thanks bill, I appreciate you changing the thread name, with me now being 17 and most of the rust repaired I figured it needed a new name.

Here is some info on the tires, they are Dunlop rover max traction's, LT245-75R16. Tread pattern is fairly aggressive, 90% tread left. The direction of this build has changed a bit since I first started, at first I was wanting to lower the truck but now I've decided to keep it stock height and get some bigger more aggressive tires because I'm going to be driving the truck on fishing and hunting trips on rough roads in the near future.

Happy birthday Nik. Keeping the truck stock height sounds like a good plan if you're going off the paved roads

:agree: Way more fun to make then so you can use them. IF I ever do another or redo the Mule, it will NOT be quite so low. I do like its looks, but it is a pain in the butt getting down some roads and driveways of my friends.

That was my dilemma, I wanted a lowered truck because they look much better in my opinion, but I also wanted to be able to drive the truck on rougher forest service roads. So I decided I wanted usability more than good looks.

Thanks Anthony, I'm pretty confident that it will be on the road by late spring, especially since I'll have 2 solid weeks to work on it during march break:metal:

I got the new (new to me) motor mount in today! It took me a while to find one of these and I managed to find this one in Missouri, the guy decided an old motor mount wasn't worth much so he gave it to me for free! so I shipped it here (only $15 shipping surprisingly). Here it is, has a slight bulge but for being 56 years old it looks great!

So it was time to install it, but first I had to dig the darn engine hoist out of the snow! Gotta love Canadian winters!

I lifted up the front of the engine and bolted it on, now I'm almost ready to install the engine! Hopefully within the next week I'll get a chance to bolt the motor mount perch to the new crossmember and drop the motor in place!
