Well Saturday after work it was nice and hot so I spent the evening cleaning and then sprayed some primer! Got a fair amount on and I'm very happy with how smooth it came out for Epoxy.

Still got some body work to do is why I didn't prime the whole cab in....gotta get these nasty creases out. Stud welder and slide hammer are on the way so I can get to work on getting these out.
Next on the list while I am waiting on tools is to start gettin these doors apart and sanded. All for now folks! :chevy: |

Re: Project two tone.
I picked up a Harbor Freight Stud Welder. It worked really well. Look for a puller that looks like a rivet gun. Here's a picture.

Nice work TJ!

Re: Project two tone.
Hi TJ!
WOW! Do you know what happened to the cab? I'm guessing some one rear ended your truck at some point in its life. |

Thanks! Well I've been slowly working away that this body work. Lot's of patching and filling to do. I'm waiting on my durablock sanding kit so that is slowing me down a bit. Also waiting on urethane primer so I can start block sanding. Driver's side rocker is patched up and done, working on the passenger side still. Really close on that one. Also got a dent pulled and filled on the lower cab corner. Also some more patch work on the back of the cab. Coming out pretty good considering it's by hand and no block. haha But waiting to get the kick before any primer goes down.

Also got the firewall spot welds filled in and a door panel sanded down. Will keep hammering away at it this week. Hoping to prime this weekend. Later guys! :chevy:

Re: Project two tone.
Nice job TJ and you're exactly right, there's nothing fast about bodywork, especially if it's done right. Paint and body can be 75% of the time involved in a build. And it looks like you got it going on… good work.

Hey guyz! Well nothing big to report....the temps have been in the high 90's low 100's so working in a non a/c garage has been a little less motivating. haha But I'm slowly kicking away at this body work. Also early this morning I pulled the frame out for some picture shots and a wipe down and wax. Yes I actually wax this frame. Smells like bubble gum now! :chevy:

Hi all, some more small updates. Life just never seems to stop being so busy, but in it all there's been some truck time. :metal:
Still working on the back of the cab....slowly getting there. Luckily I have been able to keep most of the bondo under a 1/4 inch. Pulled dents the best I could. Just some holes to spot weld and a little more block sanding and it should be ready for primer really soon. :bann: Also I have been working on getting this motor ready for break in. Recently put a valve cover gasket in and bolt the cover down. And I got some gauges hooked up. Little more wiring and then it just needs oil so I can prime it and water. Gonna use 94 vp racing fuel for break in. Getting excited folks! Almost ready to hear this motor finally! :chevy: |

Howdy folks, after what seemed like never ending body work I was finally able to prime the back of the cab in. Almost there....just gotta repair the passenger side rocker panel and this cab is sealed. Then onto urethane primer and paint. :metal:
