Thanks for the kind words. I can't wait to see my trucks frame sitting in my garage like that!

So I thought about this all day long and went out there and started the sectioning of the seat riser. With the chop and the section I have to lower that seat and I am starting with the seat riser, I found that I could lower it two inches so I am on my way! Could I end up removing the whole thing, yep it's possible. But I really would like to keep the stock seat, just modified.
We will see, right now, I am sectioning this riser. Brian |
Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
this may sound dumb, but why not figure out how much you want to lower the seat, tahe the riser out & trim that much off the bottom. then weld it back in? or is that what you plan on doing?

Very cool! Looks like I can make use of that!
Tonight I got out there and finished cutting the riser, it is turning out perfect. You can see in the photos how I cut the first cut around 3" off the floor all the way around. I then trimmed off an inch or so off the bottom of the top piece. I then clamped it in place to mark and trim the lower piece on the sides. Wham bam, trimmed that at the line and it is ready to prep for welding, that easy! Brian |
Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
I got my "bills hotrods" high mount a/c compressor in the mail today. this thing is beefy. looks cool. im not going to install it until tomorrow after I finish tightening up my fender. its all looking good.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
I worked overtime today, exhausted. But I got out there and go a little done. Using my RoperWhitney punch I punched holes in the upper piece of the seat riser so I can plug weld it in.
The real funky thing that happened to me was on my way home passing my sandblaster, there was no sign out front, CRAP. I checked on line when I got home, yep, it is no longer, CRAP! I will now be looking for someone else, this SUCKS. Brian |

You know you are working hard when you go into the house to have a shower and change into clean work clothes and go back out. :sumo:
I got some more sand blasting, sanding, grinding, welding, and masking done. I will be priming the back of the cab inside and the roof and front cowl lower sections so I can weld pieces in. I would have loved to get it in primer tonight being it's so warm, but alas the next door neighbor is having a bbq out back so I can't do that to them. I will be out there first thing in the morning and get it done. Brian |

worked on my fender this evening. I couldn't get it to lign up. nothing worked. over and over I loosened and tightened things up trying to figure out why. two hours later it dawned on me that the spacers/shims i used before the fender was hit may not work now that the fender is straight. sure enough. pulled them out and it went in like "butta". I was planning on getting that compressor bracket mounted today but everything always takes 3 times longer than you think. oh well. I have 2 blts to install on the back side of the grill that I think shakes tiny hands are made for. then im driving this thing all day tomorrow. I guess its fathers day. im just a step father but maybe I can get lunch out of it,

I started out Fathers day getting out to the garage and priming on my truck! WHOOO HOOOO! I can't believe it, the very first application of primer or paint on the rebuild, WHOOO HOOOOO!
I found a sandblaster and will call them but I am thinking more now into just doing it myself. After all, this SPI primer takes any crap all away once you spray it, I mean look at the inside of the cab, it's perfect now. :D So I was done by 9:30 this morning and took a little ride in the sun with my 65 Gran Sport. It hit me that I need a photo of the car in front of the house I sold in 1986 that gave me the money to buy it. Sooooooo, here's the story. I sold this house in a divorce for $115k. Splitting the money with the ex I made $8k and splurged and bought the Gran Sport for $2250. Now the sick part, this house, it's worth very close to a million dollars now! Maybe even a million but certainly $900k or so. Yep, wish I had that instead of the car! Brian |

And I have to tell you if you are doing any painting or priming this is a MUST HAVE gun! I have a whole arsenal of spray guns, some costing many hundreds but this stupid $40 gun just blew my mind!
I got it for primer only, polyester primer actually, it's got a 2.0 tip. I went to prime the inside of the cab and have another for general priming that was going to grab but saw this and the tilting cup and it hit me how useful this may be. Now mind you, I don't believe I have ever even used this gun where I moved the cup out of it's normal position. I just thought it moved and it mounted that way because it was an odd gun, it never occured to me that you could do what I did today. I rotated the cup to spray the gun upside down! OMG! Look at the photos of the areas down in the bottom of the cab corners. I looked with a flash light and was blown away that it was TOTALLY coated inside there! https://www.aliexpress.com/store/pro...726739341.html Brian |

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
I got the fender buttoned up early this morning. I haven't put the headlight in yet but its sunny and hot so no worries there. I haven't run the truck in two weeks. when I turned the key it fired like it had been impatiently waiting on me. drove it to the gym and to run a couple of errands. we are about to go to lunch in it. having the fender back on had taken a great deal of the rattles out. im trying to focus on my interior systems but I need to get the front valence and bumper mounted so it looks like a whole truck. that's going to be a huge pain in the a$$ though due to my clipped subframe. so we will see when that all starts. after lunch im going to let it cool off and then I will start my bracket. going to take a little work. I have to grind a tiny bit and will need to move the fuel line a couple inches but I don't think its going to be difficult. having said that im sure ive cursed myself into a three week job to install 4 bolts.
