Re: My 1965 build thread

Thanks again guys for the prayers and condolences.

Trying to get back in the saddle. There are so many reasons I can't get anything done. Just because he's in the ground things aren't letting up. Now the recovery time begins and handling the legal and personal items.

Before I found out he killed himself I was getting back to working on my truck. I filled in the pinholes and primed the vent window frames. Only the outside of the frames were pitted.

While looking for pics of my dad for the funeral I ran across the way I use to work before I had the shop. This was my frame machine. My wife couldn't pass up the shot.

I just previewed this messsage and noticed the bird house in the back ground was made by my dad. He was an outstanding wood worker.

Here is a hollow vessel that was almost complete

http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...s/DSC00918.jpg

He was in process of making gear shift knobs for the miatas in the club.

What he left on the lathe

I might go ahead and finish it up for a club member. I spent alot of time turning with him when I got out of the service, but realized cars was my life and made a hard decision to persue cars.:banghead: I was going to save wood turning for when I retire.

Instead of wood, use Billet. But then you would have to get a Mill. It never ends.
Glad you back working. It takes your mind off things.

He's got a metal lathe. All of his machinery was willed to me. I've never used a metal lathe. I don't know where I will put everything.

I was hoping by getting back to work it would take a load off, but it's just more time to think about things.

Sorry to hear about your loss, Alan. I was wondering what happened to your build thread just yesterday; I never imagined anything like this. I usually just lurk over here in the 60-66 forum, but you guys do seem to have a lot of fun. I may have to get another one just so I can hang around in here and contribute.

I used to use almost the same pulling post. An oak tree and a come along can do wonders. :metal:

Thanks Jonboy. I can't wait to get back in my old routine with the board. I couldn't get to everyones threads everynight, but i stayed on top of things usually by reading some every night. Now I'm so out of touch with everyones projects. It's all I can do to do what I'm doing now.

I don't care as long as I get mine done first :haha: The gray/silver looks so much better in person. It's hard to see the true color in pics

thanks Dennis, I wish it was my bed. I need to finish mine, so I can paint it. I still have to weld the seams on one more bedside along with some other work. I can only go so far until it is time to buy parts. Then it will be on hold.

If your asking about my dad, I can't get him out of my mind. It's pretty much all of the time. Now I've got the process of cleaning out his shop. I had a lot of crap to do before he died now it is overwhelming. I'll try to get on here as much as possible, but if I go a few days with out posting ya'll will know why. BTW thanks for asking.

Over here it goes like this "Hey ya'll watch this"

Had a little time today to get one thing done that has been on the list to do. I swapped out the tool box on my welding/plasma cart to a bigger box that was extra since I got the wood cabinets and drawers. Now I can keep all of my metal working hand tools and grinding disc in one location.:metal: Thanks to Shannon for the help. BTW Shannon the old box is empty and ready for ya.

Thanks fellers. it is really handy. I've got the metal rack on the back to hold the cords, hoods, face shield, dust mask, large vise grips etc. I keep all my grinding disc, tin snips, smaller vise grips, hammers and dollies, welding blankets, klecos, files, drill bits, air tools in the box. no more hunting for crap.
