Re: SoCal checkin' in

I was talking to a relative I have in Escondido, his father and mother died within a week of each other last month, and he wants to sell his father's '65 Buick Skylark.
I'm going back down on Wednesday to check it out. I'll take some pics and post them in this thread. From what I understand this thing is bone stock, original paint, straight body with all of the trim, etc.

Anyone from SoCal (or anyone from Escondido) interested in this? Let me know. We can meet at his house.

Dano

Check out Route 66 next weekend, it's been reborn out of the ashes of San Bernardino's bankruptcy, in downtown Ontario.

Dano I want first dibs on that Buick, let me know when you are going to look at it or I can go look at it and I will relieve them of it.

I've got a bit of a traction problem well into 3rd gear, something I'll need to work on.

That looks like a nice one to refurbish and drive .

Those old Delco R-6AC compressors suck up a fair goodly bit of HP but , driving in The Mojave Desert with 62* F inside is always nice and easy to do with that setup .

The B.O.P. V-ates are much stronger than Chevy SBC's .

You mean all you know is GM. Not too much difference, I think you can do it.
Besides its not a Ford and you always have us to pick our brains. Cant let that one go Dano

I have a few pieces to take out of my doors but the doors themselves (empty shells and stripped glass) are free if anyone wants them.

The bottoms are rusted out so they need some love but I really don't want to put these in the dumpster.

Hi guys,

I'm new here to the forums from So. Cal. Here's a pic of my '78 C10. I'm hoping to gain a lot of knowledge here and to learn a great deal on how to fix it up and make it a good reliable truck. I never learned nor was taught how to fix up cars so I really hope to get that jump started quickly. (See what I did there) Ha ha! So far from lurking everybody seem so cool and friendly so I'm excited to join the forum!

Dangit ! .

Here you alls finally have a Meet & Greet right near me in La Crescenta and I'm 3,000 miles away =8-^ .

I hope it was fun , those guys meet there every weekend and are not always interested in old trucks .

InitialBoss , WELCOME ! that's a nice looking stepper you have there , first things first : it needs a HOT oil & filter change then it needs greasing , lots and lots of Zerk fittings under there to shoot full of grease , the wheels must be off the ground for proper greasing .

Re : Saturday Fun

I still don't have a new windshield ~ they called me and cancelled , apparently they refuse to work on " old cars " even though it's the same job as any Mercedes.....(they have rubber grommets too) .

In any case , I have to take SWMBO to Nevada early to - morrow morning .

The folks there never said anything , they just turned their noses up at my old '49 3100 that IMO looked pretty good .

Many of the Road Rallies I go on , use that parking lot as a jump off place becuase it's free and clean , bathrooms , coffee and even brekkie if you want it , all right there and a gas station there too .

Have a great time , please take and post some pictures .

-Nate

the guys from japan that buy old american cars and trucks usually pay a pretty good price to get what they want. so ill just say congrats on the sale

You can always spot the Japanese and the Swedes at almost every Pomona swap meet. They pay cash with a clean title ready to sign over. I've had a few ""very" attractive offers on my C10 and my 65 Vette.

Yes, they pay good real good money (I know), :) But, unfortunately once there gone they are not coming back, :( in a dozen years or so we might have to go overseas to see an american classic truck/car show.
